Depends on what level of kids you are going to tell the stories, K1, K2 or K3??  Chinese or English stories??

I have tried telling story in my son's kindergarten before (in front of a PN class).

I chose a book with the below considerations.

1. The book must have pictures big enough to be seen clearly within 10 feet (3 meters). If you chose a small palm size book, the kids in the back cannot see the pictures. (I expect the kids to see the pictures while listening to me but don't expect them to read the words on the book.)

2. The pictures should contain bright colours and non-scary figures. It can attract the kids while not scaring them. Most kids are not interested in books with all black or grey colours - especially those with horrible figures.

3. The story should not be too long and can be finished within 10 minutes when you read in a normal speed. (Better practise the story telling at home before the live show in school. Mind your intonation and body gesture/language.)

If you really want to attract the kids easily, try those books with popular figures like Thomas and Friends and the teachers may need to help you to calm down the kids.
