holding crayons with a fist

My 1.5-year-old is holding crayons with a fist.  Do you think it is necessary to correct him at this early stage?  He won't let me hold his hand and draw together.  

If 1.5 is too young, when and how did you start teaching the proper holding of pens?

Please share your experience and thought.

as far as I know, they should learn how to hold a pen properly after 3.  The little fingers and muscle are not ready yet at 1.5.  My maid will try to hold my boy's little hand sometimes.. but never force him to do anything.  Dont make kids hate the pen.

I would suggest you to do more excercise to train up the little muscle first.  that's important to train up the 前三指.. our playgroup tutor said, some kids may have a hard time in holding pen if the muscle is not strong enough.  and this will make them getting tired easily.
