That only true if parent don't care which kid-garden the kid attend and the future of the kid.

Both of my daughters were from St Cat and none of them joined any interview classes.  That was only my personal experience.

Bear in mind that the good private primary school will pick on the kid from certain Kid-granden only.  ...

Good question!  I wanna know too!  Are they choose student by looking into their parent or what?  I just know that 知己知彼!

其實真係好睇你小朋友當場的表現，如小朋友的心情，當日瞓得好唔好，其他小朋友的表現又會影響到。太多太多因素啦。

講得直接D就睇吓你好唔好彩囉。

不過如果你小朋友係主動及大膽型，機會就大D囉。

父母有無關係？本人覺得有D學校會有。

佢都無讀interview班, 不過平時佢見到陌生人都好定, 有笑容, 好有禮貌, 媽媽係MBA不過quit咗銀行工湊仔.. daddy係 銀行IT要員, 有教open U
細佬嚟緊都會報st. cat (2010年度)

It's quite hard to explain.  I read through a St. Cat forum one year.  There were a parent who got really angry as her daugher who can speak both English and Chinese fluently but got rejected.  She had no idea why her daughter failed as she answered all the questions quite well in the interview.  Remember, it's the Kindergarten which choose the students they like, they set their criteria and it's hard for us to answer why some kids failed.  Maybe you can set up a survey to see how many St.Cat students joined the interview classes and get the ratio to compare?  I'm sure some kids who join the interview classes may get into the Kindergarten successfully but is it due to the classes at all or would it be some other reasons?  It's hard to tell.  Everyone has his/her choice.  If joining the interview class make one feel comfortable, then just join it.  We are only telling our own experience that those classes is a waste of money and time.

有無番開playgroup呀?
我個女番開tst ymca.佢個班同學仔得9人,扣o左d報國際學校,得番5個倒報本地學校,有3個入到st.cat.
其實好睇佢in時表現.

It is doubtless some interview course can help to enroll some KG. But for a child, not only a interview... includes the academic result, they needs your heart instead of money.

Well I think you don't need to put the words so hard.  I think most if not all parents do care about their child's education.  There are many ways to help the children to develop.  Either by playgroup or home education or some classes with special purpose.  I do take my child to playgroup and he will join the pre-nursary class too.  He is a very happy boy.  Yet, in order to play safe or somehow increase the chance to get into the KG that we as the parent trust, I raise this topic to know more.  

My sister-in-law did take her children to the kind of interview class and she seemed highly recommended.  But for myself, I would like to see it by myself before deciding to join or not.  Frankly, some parents are of not highly educated, they may need more help to increase their children's competitiveness.

So in conclusion, different people will have different need.  There is no right or wrong.  If you feel got no such need, you can just skip the topic but not make other parents feel bad.  I believe most if not all are not foolish but just for the goodness of their children.

From your reply that you did much for your child & you are not in lower educated. A interview is just taken for 8- 15mins. I believe you can train your child well for the interview if you spare time.

Especially St. Cat, they principal in English. I don't believe that interview class can make your son very good in English in a sudden.

YMCA has a good English playgroup that you can try, it is for long term, not for a interview.

I PM you a interview class information if you still want to take part in.

Hope you understand what i mean & my word won't make you feel bad.

P.S. If you did pay heart to your child, why do you feel bad from my word? In HK, both heart & money we have to pay for a child to have a better performance. Of course, you have your right to choose.
