Hi, is your baby a "small BB" like my gal (she was born in Sept)?? the school put all small BB in the afternoon class. Don't be disappointed anyway. i think not much discussion on Think is mainly due to the fact that it has only 2-3 pre-nursey classes per year and each class consist of around 15 kids only (Like my gal's class, there is only 13 kids). Unlike other famous kinders which may have more than 4 classes with around 2x kids.
You said the management of the school is not well organized. To be honest, I don't think so. From the 1st day my gal attend the school, everything was well planned and i didn't have to bother any school issues. For example, I bought uniform in school as it arranged the supplier to met parents on one sat. morning, and it arranged nurses to school on one sat. morning for anti-flu injection to kids (it's free of charge). Besides, you would receive monthly newsletter at the beginning of each month which shows all activities coming up in the month, and u would know what the kid has learnt in school by reading its hand book at the end of each week. If you like, u can call up to the school and talk to the class teacher for discussion. Indeed, i am satisfied with the admin. section of Think.
For the teachers, I can assure you they are excellent. Very caring and patient. Most of them had over 5 yrs of experience in teaching. I remembered my gal was crying every day in school for the 1st month. Her class teacher Ms WONG called me frequently reporting to me about her situation and improvement. Can u believe this?? Also, she observed my gal's strength and weakness within 3 months.
Like a month ago, I was not home for a week due to work. My gal's emotion became unstable in school, she observed something changed and therefore made a phone call to me asking what had happened at home. See, the teacher was fast action and really cared about the kid's performance. i was in fact very impressed.
For the curriculum, the school adopt theme-based and activity-based education. Not expect spoon-feeding. In 1st semester, no homework, but my gal bring home with her art and craft work occasionally. In 2nd semester, simple line drawing or coloring exercise to do at home. The school did arrange lots of activities for kids. For example, when teaching about home, the class teacher took kids to one of the classmates home for observation. When teaching about transportation, the teacher took kids to take a ride in school bus. When teaching about hotpots or japanese food, the kids became a chef and have a feel of cooking in class. All these make my gal love to go school nowadays. Not only the teacher can feel it, my maid and I also feel the same.
Regarding primary school allocatiion, i once read a newsletter about the result of 08, most of them go to DSS or private school (if my memory serves me right). Since i am not targeting local school, i didn't look at it seriously. But i recalled that some of them were famous ones. I remembered that I had attended a talk previously in which some old parents of Think were invited to talk about their kids new school life in P1. All of them agreed that Think has built a good english foundation for their kids, and their kids had no problem to use english in P1.
Woo... I have typed too much. Hope the above can help u to make ur decision. |
