Those parents who English are not good (like me), but will like to prepare an environment for their kid so they can have better or even native English, are good parents!

Or may be you can try to put it like this.  If you think your English is no good, then you can try to read books and learn English with your kid.  On one hand you can improve your English, and on the other hand, this is a very good way to build up your relationship with your kid.

To go IS or not, we should consider the insterest of the kid, our ability should not come first.  To learn English with you kid should be fun.

100% right, think positive..

Ever since I started tutoring my 3.5 year old nephew Little Him, I've had a new piece of worn-out gag in my bag -- if you want to improve your English, go get married and give birth to a child, the earlier the better.

Why not?

In the past 20 months learning with Little Him, I've straightened out my pronunciation on many proper names -- classical composers (Chopin (don't think that this one is a piece of cake, British and American have different preferences), Ravel, Dvorak ... ), world famous landmarks (in particular the great pyramid of Giza (hard g, not soft) and Taj Mahal (read 他薯(ge as in garage)罵吼) of India), and figures in Greek mythology (cos Little Him is mad about space and astronomy, while many celestial bodies (such as the moons of Jupiter and Saturn) get their names from Greek and Roman mythical figures).

I've also learned many new (though in a way simple) words. Just like yesterday I borrowed a book entitled "Buzzy's Boo-boo" from the library. Buzzy is the main character in the story, but what's boo-boo? The dictionary's definition is "a usually trivial injury (as a bruise or scratch) —used especially by or of a child". A completely new word to me.

So, if you think your English is below par, just embrace it as a great chance for self improvement.

At my children's school, not all parents are native English speakers. There are so many families from different cultures. English is merely a common language at school that the children use. I have made friends with Koreans, Vietnamese, French, Spanish etc parents at school. And to them, English is also their second language, and we all have no problem with following our children's school work.

My son's cousin is studing in secondary school of ESF. His mother is good in English but her dad is not.

The problem encounter:
1.He would comment at home that his dad's english is poor.
2.Her dad never went to his school, even though the son has performance.
3. The son did need intensive tutoring of English by his mother when he is now just promoted to secondary.

But I feel that his dad is very proud of his son's foreigner's accent. And afterall his son's character is definitely not suitable to study in local schools.
