呢間學校因為一早就已经开始收生,所以好多都已经有结果啦.

Chinese: from Longman
Maths: from Longman too, in English

Of course.  Kids are encouraged to do their best in both sides when they study there.  However, if they fail, the school will try their best to help and will not abandon them.

Currently, there is only one NET in the school.

All kids are divided into three sections in each Grade according to their standards and study English separately.

I am not sure if they will take the HKEA exam but I think they are following the HK syllabus at the moment.  I shall ask the school the same question and hopes to give you clearer answer soon.

Please do not be misled by the term "International" in the school name.  It is not an international school.

I should receive the result before 25/10, but very nervous.

Anyone who was accepted in this school in 2005 term?  Because I heard a lot of case from the church, they were all failed in August.

my sister in law told me what she heard about the school principle- he was the music teacher to one of her friend many years ago and told this student that: "one day i will establish a school using music as a tool" , he did many years later.

this gave me a good impression.

however, if one had to follow the hk syllubus and using hk text book for chinese and english, i am in doubt of the result - what primary student had to learn these days are just too difficult for their age -  think about this, a 7 years old kid had to be good in both english and chinese, writting difficult chinese words and memorising long english words.

the difficult course implys that kids have to spent lots of time learning, doing practice and preparing for exam. no time for private spare time, no time for happy reading.

my primary school days were very happy as what was taught at those days was relatively easy.

I saw the books used by some  international school, their chinese books are difficult compared with my youth but is still easier than local school.

"learn difficult thing" do not garantee graduate who are good in both chinese and english, look at the new U - graduate.

sorry a bit diverted from the topic, my sister in law is thinking seriously of getting her daughter into this school two years later.

I really do not think that the HK syllabus is unacceptable.

Why can't the kids write difficult Chinese words and memorise long English words if they love to do so?  If learning is a joyful game to them, full of praise, encouragement and tolerance, more time to spend together with their parents, kids would like to do more practice.  Same will apply to learning musical instrument that is also very difficult and hard.  Parents' expectation is always a big stone standing before the happy life of kids.

Perhaps, my son is having too much private spare time, spent in playing and not reading.  Thank you for reminding me this.

So far, my son is living happily.

I have some question on the school. My son is on waiting list of this school.

Do the school make their own teaching material? Do they provide this material to parent?

They have textbook. That's mean parents can follow what they have taught and revise with kids, just like normal school?

Do the school has dictation? If not how does the school make kids learn, eg, Chinese

How is the teacher? Can parent easily contact the teacher to talk about problem of kids?

it is not only the syllabus issue.

using hk syllabus=taking part in HK EMB's exam, assessemnt / allocation method= you are no different weather you are in private school, direct subsidy school or government school = you got to do lot more exercise in P3 for the P3 assessment / in P4/5/6 for the allocation system.

even some of the recently famous DDS schools are setting up " better student class" to give a bit of " pushing".no one escape from the old game. unless you are in international schools not using the HK syllabus.

so if  kids had to follow the old game and at the same time use lots of energy and time in practice for music, can they cope. no every child are very brilliant.

My daughter is now studing P1 in ICQM.  She just have Chinese Assessment last week but she didn't get any pressure on it, it just like a game to her.  But I still want to know will there any dictation for them??

The teachers are nice.  They will call back ASAP when they've time on the same day.  I had called twice: 1, my daughter is sick and want to get the homework list and she called me back at around 7:00pm just after school meeting; 2, my daughter was not used to go to school all day long and have some difficulties and I called her class teacher for discussion, she called me back at lunch hour.

我去聽過佢既家長答問大會, 略知一二他的辨學理念, 請問收生是否好難呢, 我10/25 就會知我個仔得唔得...好緊張呀..

囡囡上課只有五週，功課不多，一般在導修堂時已完成7成。

數學同英文是以英文教學的，囡囡有時說會聽不明白，但功課就9成半都無做錯。

There is no dictation, but "Evaluation on Learning Progress", for English, Chinese and other subjects in the school.

Pictures are always provided in the English and Chinese quiz paper to aids kids in answering question or fill in the blank or do matching or writing "question to answer" or "answer to question".

Kids are required to memorise words and some sentence structure.  Parents are encouraged to read more books with kids together so that kids can learn more words and sentence structure from reading.  Writing words a hundred time is not encouraged or asked for.

It was me and not the school who asked my boy to memorise, recite and dictate each chapter of his Chinese textbook.  He did it good without much effort.

There are textbooks to follow and teachers will prepare their own teaching materials too.  But I had not seen those materials before.

There is classwork and homework for kids to strengthen what they has learnt in school.

For Chinese, kids are encouraged to use more Dictionary and find themselves more words.

English teachers will provide a sheet of teaching scheme summary at the end of each teaching phrase telling parents what kids had been taught and what they should remember.

Maths teacher will provide a sheet of keywords for kids to understand and memorise but not for dictation, e.g. mutiply, divide, estimate,.... etc.
