幼稚園讀國際學校,小學讀普通學校

有這樣的小朋友嗎? 但international kindeegarten 5歲就上小學,但香港學校要5yrs8mths,怎麼辦?

大部份這類小朋友都是準備投考傳统直資名校的，因這類名校喜歡小朋友speak fluent English 。
如未足歲可留在 kindergarten等或試考ESF小學。

Thank you! This also my plan. But I'm afraid there will be too many changes for the little one (3 schools in 3-4 years).

I am worry that kids can't take up the progress in Chinese in normal primary school.
have any mother's  child study intenational kindergarten and then study normal primary school?  Please share your experience.

Indeed, I plan to teach her some local kindergarten curriculum at home. Since I was a primary school teacher. Does it work?

Hello heratang,
  My daughter is 4 years old and currently studying in an British-based international kindergarten in Kln Tong.

  I am now planning to switch her to local school next year. I have a few following plan now:

1. As she is now studying in a British-based kindergarten so she will be promoting to Primary one at 5 when she reaches 5 next year, under the British curriculum. In this case, she will be promoting to her own international primary school and also I will apply a ESF for her as well.

2. Let  her to study in a local chinese kindergarten  for a year and then apply local government primary school next year.

3. Apply for another American-based international kindergarten so that it may be easier for her to apply famous primary school next year. Also, she will be able to keep a high standrad of English.

4. Apply a kindergarten which  has a private school for back up so that she doesn't has to adapt new different environment in a short time.

What's the difference between British and American based curriculum? Will it affect the primary school choices?

Hope you can share some more informatin to me as I plan to send my son to Kingston next year.

Hello Jocool,

In British-based curriculum, children start primary 1 at the age of 5, while, in American-based children start primary at the age of 6.

My daughter is now studying in Kingston. So, you also plan to switch your son to local school after finishing Int'l kindergarten?

Actually, I send my daughter to international kindergarten because I would like her to get used to communicate with people in English in daily life, also hope that she is able to write high standard of English.

Now, she can do what I expect. At the moment, I am still wondering if I shall keep her to study in International school. As what I know, international school such as ESF really provide a good educational curriculum. Apart from Chinese, english ,maths, science and Art, children study
Geography,
Informational & COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY,
HISTORY
DESIGN TECHNOLOGY,
that I think no local study would provide these additional subject to their school.

On the other hand, however, my husband would rather perfer to send our daughter to local school because he thinks even thought international school provide many subjects but the levels are actually lower than the local school.

In additional, we are also wondering if we don't choose international school, Should we send out daughter to famous school?We actually want to send our daughter to 'normal' sch but not famous school,however, we found that the standards in academic subjects in these school are really relatively lower than in famous school.

Anyway, in my stage, I will have to find out which chinese and english local kindergarten have vancany in K3 first, then decide what to do next.

這個亦是我的計畫。我女兒會於明年頭入讀international nursery，k1亦應該會在那兒讀，不過k2就有保留了，因為我可能會轉出去一些師資比例好但又有中英文都兼具的學校。

我覺得送她去讀int'l kindergarden的原因是因為有一些學校很喜歡學生的英文底子好的，故去找學校或叩門的機會亦會大增呢。轉讀的原因是俾多少少時間她去adopt一個新的learning environment，讓她讀primary時會容易些適應。

謝謝大家的意見,我的計劃大致跟兩位差不多,我女兒下年會讀international k1,但五歲就讀international p1,然後再轉local school p1,唉!香港d 教育制度真係煩.

Dear CheryMum,

Yes, I concern a bit about the Chinese standard. I think I'll teach her Chinese on my own. Actually, I really feel headache about it. I like the learning style of international school. But I worry that those foreign kids are not as 乖 local children. I mean when they reach secondary level. That's why I want my girl to switch back to normal school when she's older.

其實在我囡囡三歲時，我曾送她到local 幼稚園就讀。因為她三歲前是我奶奶帶住她的，因我是在轉媽媽所以我和老公在晚上在奶奶家晚飯後才帶回囡囡回家。問題是，老人家太龐囡囡，囡囡變得十分沒禮貌，沒規矩，不喜歡便打人和大喊，常鬥咀。雖然她一歲多時已上國際playground，她語言和學術方面好好，但操行方面很差，還有吃飯時總時走來走去。所以，她三歲時，我送她到local 一所比較嚴的幼稚園就讀，local 課程很淺，但囡囡大約在那local 幼稚園讀了半年，她操行方面大有進步，她學懂了上課要留心，吃飯時要座定，要聽大人和老師說話等這些道理，再加上，只有假日才和她回奶奶家。

可能我自己都是教書的，所以我對囡囡學術和操行方面都要求較高，我不是說要培養她做天才，但至少要教她做一位乖的小孩。
