Please commemt and advise: 真道書院,港大同學會小學 and 優才小學? which one should I choose? :

I posted the similar question some days ago but so far no response from any parents.  May be it is difficult to answer because different parents have different priority.

Actually, I am also considering Pegasus.

For myself, I may consider the following:

1) School fee and miscellaneous charge (any trend to increase in the coming future?  Are there a lot of books to buy?  How much will they charge for extra curricular activities?)
2) Location (too far from home may be hard for small kid!)
3) School history (GT should be the oldest one)
4) Any secondary school (Pegasus does not have now but some parents said it will be approved soon)
5) Class size (I prefer small class so teachers can pay more attention on each student)
6) Principal and teachers' background
7) Balance between education and other activities
8) Languages teaching (is it conducted by foreigners?)

I attended the briefing session conducted by Logos in July.  Well, the Principal like a businessman selling his school.  I think if he use another tone may be better.  However, I still like this school.

FYI, GT has briefing session in 4 Sep and 11 Sep, you may call 25356869 for reservation.  For

HKUGA, they told me that there may be briefing session in August and September, please check their website from time to time.  

For Pegasus, so far no such kind of announcement.

Have you joined any briefing session?
What is your comment about these schools?

For your information, this year Pegasus has classes from P.1 to S.1 (F.1), and for 04-05, from P.1 to S.2. They are going to have high school starting 06-07.

I didn't attempt 真道書院 for my kid, so I can't comment, but I have tried both 港大同學會小學 and 優才小學, I considered they are both good in terms of their teaching methods/approach and concepts.

Unfortunately, they are new and do not have many parents of existing students who are members of babykingdom that can shared their experience.

The comments that I have got from some of my friends who had kids studying in HKUGA (P1 and P3) are positive.

No.  HKUGA's teaching method is different from traditional teaching schools.  Please check HKUGA's website and have a look at some samples of their school project.   Also, they don't have exams and tests for the first two years except for what they so called continuous assessment (which you don't need to prepare for it).

我以教師身份去過優才參觀及睇堂，以我看的P.5英文堂的秩序麻麻，學生唔係好聽老師講o野，雖然可能學生本身的英文都唔差，唔聽都知點做。但係好似過份強調『創意』，我看o個堂大部份時間都係學生form group disscussion，到之後presentation時就好嘈。

我其他同事看的其他班，堂堂的秩序都唔係o甘好，好似過份自由。
我覺得有一些o的老師唔係o甘夠經驗。
原本聽完個校長present都覺得間學校理念好好，但係看完堂後就唔多覺了。

個校長話年年超額4至5倍。

I think that is my own problem.
I think exam is a good thing.

I always check their Web site, I find their project is similar to "traditional" school.
I am not trying to say  HKUGA is no good. I always think that it is a good school.

I just want to say traditional school not so "traditional" now.
That is only my own opinion.

If u don't mind, pls tell me more.

It's good that traditional schools are becoming less traditional nowaways. It's because most schools were too traditional before that I let my son studies in DSS.

My son studies in HKUGA. He will become P.2 student this coming term. One of the major difference of HKUGA from other schools is that they provide lots of multiple intellegence classes eg. music appreciation, visual arts, swimming, western culture, dancing, drama ........... These classes are compulsory and there will be evaluation report at term end. I believe in total human development and I think these classes are very good.

My son enjoys going to school very much. When he is naughty, my 絕招 is not to allow him to school. This always works. He may not know more when compared to children from other schools but definitely he is always happy.

I was kept too busy and sorry for not being able to response earlier.  No hard feelings, feel free to discuss.  

I don't object exams, I even took a number professional exams myself till the age of thirties.  I have got more titles, but I still don't think exams can give me any added value in real terms.  

I would rather look into what I have learned and not for the purpose or tricks in passing the exams.  That is what I wanted for my kid, learn to be a good person that could think independently, analyse and  make the appropriate decision.  More important, loved to learn at young age.

In respect to projects and homework, I noted some differences (as compared to traditional school).  To be fair, I am trying do a little more research to find out more about different Primary schools' project and homework.  If I have a chance later, I will share with you.

我的整個生活都在東區,工作上接觸到的有中小學家長,老師以至校表,所謂名校的亦不少,交談中得到的資料往往出人意表,寫出來本為拋

I heard such news among parents.
If the school still moving in the right direction, the problem is a minor thing.
New school has to face for some problems.

Are you a parent of student studing at HKUGA and able to confirm this is true?  Otherwise, can you tell us more about turnover (large, how large?)  Principal has to teach which grade?  We are interested to know.

Correct me if my information is not correct:

Ms Gloria is both the Principal and the class mistress of 5B at HKUGA.

I'm not doubting her ability of handling both tasks. I just wonder if it is a common practice in other primary school.

I'm not a parent of HKUGA. I just have a friend there. I don't know the exact figure of their turnover rate. I think you better ask the school team.
