小兒被兩間英國公立中學取錄為 2009 九月入學.
分別名為:
Sir Roger Manwood's School (Sandwich) 入讀 G.9  Wymondham College (Northford) 入讀G10.

從成績方面,Sir Roger 是 grammar school. ranking look 亦高一點. Wymondham College 是Comprehensive / Technology School 學術成績似乎稍遜. 但校園環境似乎較優. 小兒現就讀band 1 中學中二. 成績中等. 想請教哪一間學校比較好.

In fact you can browse their website and you would get lots of information.  Sir Roger of course is not the best grammar school but overall, it is quite good in academic.

Thanks for your reply.  My son is not a British citizen, he just holds a Portuguese passport.  I wonder whether so many (黑人)studying at the state school?  I am very concern about that.  How about U ?

I don't know about the issue. May be it's close to the black people living area. Will try to figure it out.
If you go to study in US, there are also lots of black people at school. But it's a kind of International atmosphere.
I understood your concern. Black people seems always create problem.

I've checked with current student that Sandwich is not a black people area but an aged area instead. There are lots of old people staying around the area.

As for the black people, they are mostly from London. For boy's dormitory, there are 5 out of 25 pupils in black. Of course, there are some girils as well. But there are almost 900 pupils, I believe black skin students are still minority. I guess there are more HK people instead.

Hi,

Can anyone PM me more info about Sir Roger? My friend's friend got his son into the sixth-form of this school and recommends it to me! I saw from their website only mentioned about the boarding fee but not the tuition fee! My son only holding HKSAR, can he ho this school too? Someone also recommends me John-Leggott College saying the academic result is not bad but this school only have homestay! Thanks!

Hi trustmetoo,

Sir Roger is a States Boarding school. As far as I know only British passport holders are entitle to study. No tuition fee is needed, for day school student. What you have to paid is a boarding fee.
It's not really a top top ranking school in UK but acceptable. Hong Kong students always get to good universities like Imperial, London U...etc.

I believe the ranking of school and the academic result will keep rising. This year they have received a HK student with 25pts from HKCEE. And somebody with 22 pts was not being accepted.

The overall atmosphere of the boarding is harmonize. Students feel safe living there. Of course, State school is not so pushy as the independent school, that's why there are not too many students went to OXbridge. In another words, students are free to learn at their own pace and ignite their interest of study.

Thank you so much for your info. My son is not able to get into the states school cos he is not holding UK or Euro passport. However, the independent school is real expensive, most of the ones refer by my agent cost HKD400000 a year! Someone recommends me some public schools and among them, John-Leggott sounds the best. Do you have any idea of this school or do you have any recommendation for public schools?
