What does 'stolen' mean?

1. Something lost forever

2. Something being taken away without the permission of
    the owner

3. Something hidden without knowledge of anyone

See Section 2 of the Theft Ordinance (Cap. 210):

(1) A person commits theft if he dishonestly appropriates property belonging to another with the intention of permanently depriving the other of it; and "thief" (竊賊) and "steal" (偷竊) shall be construed accordingly.
(2) It is immaterial whether the appropriation is made with a view to gain, or is made for the thief's own benefit.

So the elements of theft involve:
1.  dishonesty
2.  appropriation
3.  property belonging to another
4.  with an intention to permanently deprive the other of it

no. 2 is not correct.  For example, the supermarket used to stick price labels on their stocks and charged you at the check-out according to the price marked at the price label.  If you change the label with a lower price and paid that lower price at the check-out and leave the supermarket.  You take away the stock with the supermarket's permission but you have still commited a theft.
