關於ESF小一interview, 可否比d意見

囡囡年尾考ESF Primary one, 現讀ESF K2, 小朋友之間全英語交談冇問題, 但非常怕羞, 有老師在場就很小出聲, 在同一kindergarten已讀左甘耐, 沒有理由同老師不熟絡. 請問有沒有媽媽之前有此經驗? 我可做什麼幫囡囡呢? 有什麼方法可令她大胆些呢? 我已經安排了很多Play date比佢同同班同學玩, 佢玩得好好, 但一有大人在場時, 即刻唔出聲, 點算? 仲有2個月便Interview了, 到時有老師在場, 我相信佢都係會唔出聲自己玩, 點算呀?

hi tpoon, 我的女児也一様、有大人的時候就不喜歓説話、需要非常多時間適応有STRANGERS的地方。　　今年４月INTERVIEW的時候、老師通知各学生入房INTERVIEW、女児便緊張得哭起来。　幸好老師非常CONSIDERATE、説這是普偏現象、容許我同她一斉去到CLASSROOM,去到CLASSROOM之後、只有幾個小朋友及一個老師、她便「冷静」下来、順利過関。　我覚得不一定要sociable才可的、学校一定知道EVERYONE IS UNIQUE.  Are all the teachers in the ESF Kindi westerners?  If she is used to them, then I am sure she wl be ok.  Just remember not to make a big fuss on that morning, then I am sure she will be OK.  Good luck.

Today, I try a new drama class for her, as usual, the teacher say she is willing to partipate in the games but not willing to talk.

Mighty, thank you for your encouragement.  I know I couldn't worry so much but I just can't help stop thinking......

Yesterday I went to the Year One seminar of Clearwater
Bay
School.
The Principal said the school has 120 places for Year One, however, they had received 131 applications from the category 1 children.
Base on the information given, I think there is hopeless for the Category 2 child, like my girl which English is not our first language, although the Principal said chance is still there for Category 2 children.
I don’t know how the information given by the Principal can reflect the true and I don’t understand why last year almost all the kids from Abacus were accepted by Clearway
Bay
School.
Is that means a lot of Category 1 Child just submits the application and reject the offer finally?

if there are 131 applicants for 120 Y1 places at CWBS, I think the chances are quite high already. My son is now in K1 and CWBS is also my 1st choice.

Don't worry!

Some of the Cat 1 applicants might end up not choosing ESF for various reason (e.g. re-location of parents and financial reasons, etc).  So you still have chance.

HI, cocobean,

131 applicants are all catergory 1 children.  We are Chinese, we belong to category 2.  The principal said there are about  150 category 2 applicants. Most of the people tell me Abacus children will most likely all accepted by Clearwaterbay school from the past experience.   I really don't know how this system works.  From the data given by the principal, at least half of the category 1 applicants either cannot meet the entrance requirement or reject the offer, otherwise, it will be hopeless for catergory 2 kids.  However, it is almost impossible that the catergory 1 children will not meet the entrance requirement.

Hi tpoon,

My son is studying in SJS Yi and he studied in ESF Tsing Yi Kindergarten before joining the SJS.

My son has the same behaviour as your girl, he has no problem to deal with the kids but reluctant to approach or talk to the adult especially in the strange environment and take a long time to warm up.

Since SJS was my 1st choice, therefore, in order to let my son familar with the school and environment, I started to enrol my son to the ESF weekend English Program which was conducted in SJS one year prior to the interview so as to enable my son to familar with the classroom and the school.  I think this way may help a little bit.

However, for your case, I think you started to bring her to the school and wondering around for a while which I think may help a bit.

I wonder where the 131 applicants from category 1 come from. How many kids in total are there from Abacus? I think not all kids from Abacus would apply to CWBS, some of them will apply to RC.
If your daughter is in Abacus, chance is already higher. My son is not in Abacus, but for the past years all the graduates from his kindy can either go to CWBS and RC.

I thought those 131 category 1 applicants are either from Abacus or outsiders.

My understanding is that we will see lots of expatriate families leaving HK in the following months to come due to the current economic downturn. I am guessing that kids who are from local families and are being placed on the waiting list will probably have a better chance for next year's Y1 now.

My guess anyway.

So anyone here receive interview letter from CWBS so far? I have letter from RC already but not CWBS. My daughter studies in Abacus too, just don't know if we are Cat 1 or Cat 2....
