Kindergartens for DGJS

My girl is two years old and I am considering K1 options for her. Other than the CCKG and St. Cat, are there other kindergartens that are favorable for DGJS admission? What does DGJS look for other than English proficiency?

I would considering to enroll her in an international kindergarten (e.g. ESF/ICS). Does that mean she would be at a disadvantage when applying P1 at DGJS if she speaks very good English but perhaps not as prepared academically since she has not gone through the academic rigor from places like St. Cat or Kentville?

I suggest you apply a internation kindergarten for pre-nersury and St. Catherine for K1. It's benefit for the interview of CCKG.

It seems that what I have been hearing is that St. Cat for K1 then CCKG for K2 and K3 is the best path. Is it the "only path"? Does DGJS take in girls who have gone through other international kindergartens till K3 (100% English, run by native english teachers, more americanized curriculum -- more play, more interactions, but less academic rigor)?

If my daugther can speak fluent English (which she does right now at age 2 -- she speaks full sentences fluently in english all the time) and she continues in an English only kindergarten. Will she have a good chance for DGJS? Will she at a disadvantage if she has not gone through the academic "rigor" at places like Kentville? (e.g. dictation at age 4, etc)?

I think English ability is not the only consideration for the p.1 admission of DGJS, since the prinicpal will not test the girl's English during the interview.  I think girls who like to read, attentive are more important.

that's true.... kindergartens like CCKG & St. catherine do not have high standards in Chinese. My girl studied in CCKG before, i brought her to study chinese course outside so that both her Eng & Chi standards r good enough to enter DGJS.. of course, taking interview courses r important as well

where did ur kid studied in Nursery class or K1 before entering CCKG?
Can you also share how to train up the fluency of English of ur kid?

My girl is admitted to DGJS and is now studying at St. Catherine's.  In my eyes, St. Cat's Chinese standard is good and it gives sufficient Chinese language training.  Having said that, please bear in mind, I am not the pushy type.  The only outside help I am giving my girl is reading Chinese books with her.

I don't think DGJS' principal tested the interviewees' English or Chinese language skills.  Reading, concentration and presentation skills (in Chinese) and school report are more important.

Hi Happymichelle, my girl went to M academy for Interview course. the training was good in building up her confidence & fluency in language. indeed, she is taking their english course now which is very popular in DGJS...

so is st. cat followed by CCKG the only path in?  so what about nursery which is appropriate for entering st. cat?  if cant get into CCKG, will st. cat get her in too? and if cant get into st. cat? any other kindis?  what about victoria or cannan?

Cannan & Victoria or St. Cat (not CCKG) also has changed to enter DGJS.  Do you know the successful rate?
