Which Woodland Montessori?

I have two Woodlands in mind:
(1)  The Peak Pre-School
(2)  The Woodland Montessori Pre-School, Mid Levels

Which one do you think is better?  How old is an toddler to go to their Playgroup?  Do I need to apply a year earlier?  Thanks for your advice.

I also have some queries on the Woodland.  what difference in between of the two school located at Happy Valley.

I would like to know whether is good or not about the woodland pre-school.

I don't know they have branches in Happy Valley.  However, my boss's son will join the one in Mid-Levels beginning in September.  Let you know his comments later.

My elder son (now 7) went to Woodland Montessori at Caine Road 119 a few years ago for playgrp when he was 2.  Last Jun, I sent my younger one there as well.  He was 2 when he joined their Stepping Stone class (accompanied by his helper) and got promoted to their preschool in Sept.  I actually did quite a bit looking around before sending him there cos it's quite far for us from NP.  I've visited the one in Happy Valley as well as the HK Montessori opp. Caritas.  Still I ended up choosling Woodland on Caine Road.  I found their teacher very loving, well qualified and the teaching method (letting a child learn at his/her own pace) very good.  Teacher /student is around 2 to 20 which is ok.  I also visited the Peak Pre-school a few times.  Think they have smaller class size.  Also, it's a better English-speaking environment (if that's important to you) as teachers are all recruited from UK and the student body also have much higher ratio of Westerners.  The only hesitation for me is that it's really too far away.  They do have good afterschool Mandarin program though.

Hi jollymom , how much is this school for each month,my daughter is 1, can I bring her there.Can they offer the child to general primary school in HK after kindergarden,cause I don't got much $ for international primary school,thx

For preschool, tuition is $5500 per month.  Playgroup is cheaper and u can choose 2 or 3 times a week.  Think most of their students go to intl school afterwards and their teaching method is also more geared towards intl school.  Also, no Chinese which is a minus for local school.  Have u thought of Victoria Nursery school?  They have bilingual system which might be more suitable for local primary school. Anyway since yr daughter's only 1, maybe u could consider the playgroup at Union Church.  My son used to go there.  It's non profit-making and its run by volunteer moms.

My son started going to Union Church at around 20 months but think they accept younger kids.  They have separate sessions for Mom and kids as well as helpers and kids.

Dear Alam,
Further to my earlier reply, just realized u might be asking about Woodland playgrp instead of Union Church.  For Woodland, think their playgroup start taking kids at 2.  If I remember correctly, it's $2000 per month for twice a week and $2900 for 3 times a week.  Kids must be accompanied by parent or helper.  Hope this helps.  Rgds.

I have visited Woodland (Caine Road) recently.  The tution charges are:

Playgroup  : 1hr 45min
2/week (tue & thu) $2,200
3/week (mon, wed & fri) $2,900

Stepping Stones : 2hr
3/week (mon, wed & fri) $2,900

Pre-school mon - fri  : 3hr  
half day 8:30 - 11:30 $5,700
half day 12:00 - 3:00 $ 5,700
extended day 8:30 - 3:00 $8,400

You mentioned you visited the Montessori school of HK accross Caritas.  What do you think of the school and how is it different from the Woodland Montessori ?  I've heard some good and bad comments about Montessori school of HK and would like to hear your feedbacks since you've been to both.  thanks a lot !

Hi Jollymom,
you mentioned the mandarin program afterschool, how is it like ? And do you need to pay extra for that ?    I am really concerned about the mandarin teaching. thx.

How's the enviroment of Woodland Montessori at Caine Road 119? Big? Good facilities? curriculum? Any Mandarin? It seems Woodland has primary section? Do you have rough idea of that?

Hello,

I have a very bad experience with that school (caine road).  They are really difficult to contact and i dropped that school at least.  I tried to leave message in the voicemail for a few times, they called me 1wk later and asked me to fax an inquiry form to them.  However, they never send me an inquiry form and no one return my voicemail after all.  I think they really have some communication problems.  How can i send my baby to them????
