石硤尾聖方濟各vs聖若望英文書院vs女拔萃

To all parents,
  I am asking this question for my friend who daughter has already be admitted to these following school. She is struggling about to choose these school. She knows that DGJS may be the best out of these 3 school but she also has a little son behind. However, there are no secondary school backup in 聖方濟各 and 聖若望.
Therefore, she wants to ask a few questions before making the final decisions:
(1)Which one would you choose if you were her?
(2)What are the English and overall standards of 聖方濟各 and 聖若望.
(3) Do all these school use English as a medium structure all the time at school? Which school teach  all the subjects in English or by native English teachers ? How about the languages in extra curricular time?
(4) How about the workload of these school? Which one give the heavier workload to students?

Hope some parents may give a hand to my friend!

我認為不應因為弟弟的原因而影響姐姐的安排。

我曾在一家一對一外籍教師會話班見到一個小二的DGJS學生，外籍先生讚她很好很好。

基本上，單以英文來講，幾年前有一中學英文教師告訴我，一個聖方濟各的小五學生的英文水平，有一般英文中學中一、ニ之水平。而DGJS的英文，又好像比聖方濟各高幾皮。

如經濟許可的話，當然選DGS，但隨了預備學費外，不知會否像直資男拔，末開學就話要捐款給學校，仲要萬萬聲喎!

雖則私校表面上唔係計分,唔應該對下一個有影響,
但我見sfa的表格上,會有問你有無兄姐在讀的....而我
識的有兄姐在讀的,大多會成功.....

但我都認為每個小朋友都係獨立個體,應該就個人能力
去考慮,唔應該為左個細而決定的,除非他們兩個在各方
面都好接近啦(例如:成績呀,性格呀咁),若兩個的能力都
得,細佬都應該可以以自已的能力去考的.

- 一定不會，並且不是這樣說的。各位可能有所誤會了。

其實真如學校通告所說，學校各項設施須$，故希望各家長踴躍捐獻。但結果捐或不捐，對各學生全無影響，不會被學校針對或blacklist.學校只是請各家長捐獻，富有的當然可以多捐，並非富有的，可以捐少點，甚或不捐。學校不會記著誰捐了多少$而對學生持不同態度。紀錄當然會有，但只是個紀錄，為了會計/核數。男拔萃和女拔萃都是這樣。

Hope you not mind : english + Chinese first.
My son is P.1 student in SFA. I was worried before 1 sep last year.Many parents told me it's very 嚴格 & their teachers are not friendly ( 有人更話非常兇惡 ) but some of parents and teachers told me it is a very good and high level school.
As my son cannot get 1st choice,I decided to 博一博。I do not feel any problem now as my son like this school and his teachers very much.He also don't have any problem in study.But this school's english level is really higher than other school.If your child do not like reading,exam & homework, he will feel hard.

  Do your child speak English at school and at home?
How many homework your son has got every day on average?
Also, Do homework mainly include lots of copying to do?
In addition, do all the school's notices to parents are writen in English, or chinese?
Finally, do children communicate with each other in English? How about the language spoken in extra curriculum activities, chinese or English?
and does SFA encourage students very much on reading English story books?
sorry for asking so many questions because my friend want to select the school which fit her daughter the most rather than just go to the most  reputation one.

Firstly, My friend wants to send her to DGJS but her husband doesn't want my friend to push so much pressure on her daughters so her husband wants to pick up SFA OR 聖若望 rather than DGJS. My friend is a very strick school teachers, that's why.

Secondary,  they worry about the environment of the DGJS as they are not from rich family.Also, we knew that lots of DGJS students changed school  due to the heavy workload and pressure , she worried about this factors as well.

Thirdly, they want to send both children to the same school.

So, at this moment, they want to know the standards of SFA and SJC. If these school's standards are not very far away from DGJS, they would prefer to choose either of it.

我想，如果DGJS和SFA两者選一，而選SFA的話，你的朋友一定將姐弟同一家學校擺在最高的層次了。SFA不是不好，是很好，而且天主教學校之男女校或男校的學習氣氛都比較自由，德育也很好。不過，人望高處，DGJS有一等一中學，名氣又高SFA很多。我想，你的朋友一定要和女兒談談，問她喜欢那里，最怕等他長大時，埋怨父親為了弟弟，不給她最好的。

SFA是考筆試的，考到可謂真材實料，而DGJS的校長好像識看像，他選的學生都很smart。總之，恭喜你的朋友了。

至於你問小朋友可否在家和在校講英文，我可肯定，全港所有學校都做不到，做到的小朋友，是因為家庭，而非學校(包括DGJS)。我想，做為外國人學英文，除為語文環境很好，學好良好文法、掌握多點生字、學會閱讀，比英文口語重要得多。

我女兒跟 puibb 朋友的女兒差不多,我亦是有兒子,希望兩姐弟讀同一間小學,所以在 Good Hope & SFA 中選了 SFA, 不過我不是全為了這原因,我有問女兒想讀男女校或是女校,佢非常之肯定說是男女校,而我亦問過很多朋友的意見而得出SFA是一所很好的學校,而且更是全日制.

我覺得 puibb 的朋友應問一問女兒的意願,如果佢覺得她可以
應付得來,應給她一試.當然壓力一定很重.

我想請教一下你過來人嘅譏見﹔

我仔仔比較怕羞但好鍾意睇書，現在K2每日都有二至三種功課但佢每日放學食完飯就會自動自覺做功課兼睇完學校比佢嘅圖書。如果佢唔乖我同佢講叫老師唔比功課佢做，佢就會話唔好。

唔知依家鍾意做功課，上咗小學會唔就唔鍾意呢﹖你覺得我仔仔適唔適合讀SFA如果考到…

真是令人摸不著頭, 節錄 judy 所言"你的朋友一定將姐弟同一家學校擺在最高的層次"何以你朋友當初考女校?

再者, 以三間校舍的環境, 校內設施, 讀書風氣及歷史(成績)更不用多言. 我不清楚聖約望是否有中學, SFA到小五小六時還要頭痛多二次(姐弟), 而女拔中學很照顧小學部, 她快要轉直資都是此因素.

至於壓力方面難道除了DGJS其他的兩所會特別輕鬆嗎, DGJS小一功課量並不多, 反正比較一些傳統幼稚園高班還要小. 但她要求女生的閱讀能力確是很高.

還有什麼要考慮????? 真令我費解 希望解答到你朋友的憂慮.

SFA school fee is not expensive.It only $ 1850 x 10 mths per year.My son was accepted SFA,Kowloon Tong,Kowloon Alliance last year.We choose SFA due to school fee.We also receive a notice from school about school fee will remain next year.

My son live in my mother's home in weekday but she don't know english,而且又無工人。That's why he do not speak english at home.He learn phonics lesson every week & don't scare to speak to foreigner.( I don't know why ) SFA's notice include Chinese & English.Don't worry !( My english level is not good la ) Normally, he speaks Chinese with his classmate even extra curriculum activities.But 早會用英語。School teacher encourage them to read book but not only English.My son got 5-6 homework per day.But 唔可以用數量衡量,因為workbook is not many questions.好彩my son 做功課超快,最耐只用1hr, 但多數half hr 或在學校己做好。

I think your son 適合SFA。因為my son also like to do 補充練習 and reading very much.He always req me to buy more.He did homework once back to home even 幼稚園時期。

I will choose DGS.  It's a good school and difficult to get a seat.  聖方濟各&聖若望 have no secondary school.  DGS 可直升中學, 冇理由因為細佬而give up, 而且三間都係private school.  It's not fair to the daughter.  I am afraid her daughter will blame her when she grow up.  Compare with the 3 schools, DG各方面都優勝, The school fee is $3,100/per month.  Not too much homework when compare with 聖方濟各,
Ask yr friend why she applied DG for daughter at the beginning??
