JA93,

3 letters word 等佢大約有個概念 what is spelling ..

Hi kkdkkj,

My daughter is studying in Inter'l kindergarten and I asked the teacher about this question. She said "in Grade 1" should be learn how to spelling. Before K3 they should be let them about phonics, and then help them how to spell.

Agreed with christf. It is more important to recognize the words than to spell them at K stage. I will leave spelling to schools. But I read a lot of books for my kids. If you read more, they will automatically recognize those common words. This needs patience, but it is far more interesting than asking them to spell.

Thank you.

I did read with my son.  But he only concentrates on the pictures rather than the words.  He reads along with me but without looking at the words at all.  He guesses what the words are by looking at the pictures.

From now on, I will ask him to point to the words when he reads along with me.
