我相信你與你的家人是蒙受主恩的家庭,你亦是一位很稱職的牧羊人.  

我亦是k2家長,正為小女安排選校事宜,但不知從何入手.心中不是味兒,人總是軟弱的,真想找一所好學校給兒女, 心情迷惑無奈.我從k1開始看bk,到現在才較積極去提問小學的問題.有時看到其他人的發言,都會激動得哭起來,找小學真是很大壓力!

但有一點不明的地方是"搬家的最後機會",為何在 6-7月?  我聽人說應該係一月最後交地址嗎?

范莉莎:

原則上8-12月也可以搬家, 但搬家對家人和孩子的壓加均很大, 8月後開始要準備9月開學後選小一，如果不想影響家人關係, 8月前搬家比較好.

Thanks for your sharing in choosing schools for your kid.
I wish I could read it earlier.
You mentioned that your child has beeen accepted by 4 private / DSS school, could you mind sharing how you make your choice too.
My child has been accepted by Music school (ICQM)and Cahn's Creative School in SHam SHui Po. I am still figuring how to choose between the two because both have some pros and cons.

Since my daughter is studying in a kindergarten with a private primary school, we apply it first as the successful rate is very high.

Since we are Christian, the priority is primary school near to our residential address with Christianity, with good comments in academic.  However, the choices are very limited.

As our friends advised us that when choosing secondary school, the school net will follow the location of the primary school, so we start to extend our search to schools at Kowloon Tong.

But even at Kowloon Tong, primary school with Christianity background are not that much.  So we extend our search to primary school with no religion background.

There are some advice that we should try famous Catholic school.  We decide not to apply any Catholic school as we would not let my daughter study in school with different religion in her early school life.

The four schools accpeted my daughter have different characteristics:

1. my daughter should be very familiar with the environment of the primary school connected to her kindergarten, it is an English primary school with very good language environment but the homework may be too much for her.

2. Another school has excellent religion background and the teachers are very caring.  The percentage of admission to band1 secondary school is over 70%.  But it is at Sham Shui Po school net, where famous secondary school for girl is not too much.

3. The third one has excellent sport background and large campus.  The percentage of admission to band1 secondary school is around 70%, it is located at Kowloon Tong school net.  But the only consideration is that it has no religion background.

4. The final one has excellent music background.  The percentage of admission to band1 secondary school is over 80%, it is located at Kowloon Tong school net with Christianity background.  But the only consideration is that my daughter has nearly no music training and we don't know whether she like school with emphasis on music.

I have not made up my mind yet.  But at this moment is 4>3>2>1.

How about you?  Can you share how you make a choice?

Thanks very much for your sharing.
You have been very thoughtful in your choices and planning. I'm sure you must have paid a lot of effort here!

When I faced the dilemma at the very beginning, I tried to set up some 11 criteria, with each a score of 1-5 asisgned, for certain very important one, I will put extra weighting by multiply the score with a factor of 2, then a total score of each is calculated and compared. Perhaps you could do it with your wife as well, separately.
the criteria I set:
1. Through Train? (x 2), 2. Distance from Home, 3. Tuition Fee ($/yr), 4.School facility, 5.Religion background, 6.Track record / comments from friend/parents (x2), 7.Homework load, 8.Exam stress, 9.Teaching staff (depends on % degree holder & Eng/Mandarin ability, 10.English Teaching / learning (environment / quality), 11.Other language development / chances.
(You may need to re-evaluate some of the scoring when you have more information abut the schools.)

Then I have a ranking. Luckily, the top ranked school just accepted my daughter, so my dilemma solved.

As I know the school will require a copy of it to refer but
don't know if it's a key point to get the admission.

Academic result is an important reference for primary school but I think the main consideration is the interview performance.  

I haven't heard of case that any school refuse to give interview chance to an applicant.
