Is public exam (Trinity, LCM) necessary for Primary one School Application?

Dear all,
For the purpose of application of DSS or private school primary one, is the public examination (eg, LCM, Trinity) necessary and increase the chance of admission?
I found that the course style and the training is too examination-orientated, I really think it may affect the psycology of the children (only 3-4 yrs old), is it worthwide?
For those children who can successfully admitted into DSS or private school, can you share the necessity and importance of public examination results for primary one application. Thanks a lot

我諗如果兩個小朋友所有條件都一樣, 咁有cert果個應該會好d呱, 至於張cert有幾大影響力就真係好難講

There should be no difference betwee those children who have certificate and those without it. It seems to me that interview takes the most important part of DSS, if the children perform well, they will have greater chance. The school tends to offer places to those who are bright enough rather those with some certifcates unless the certificate or award is special enough. The school can train them up later.

Just out of personal experience, if your kid doesn't "open his/her mouth" during interviews, no matter how splendid is the portfolio, will still fail.

Top schools know how to evaluate the 5-6-year-old children through very simple questions and tasks.

Relax, too many commercial products out there just to take $ out of desperate parents.  If u fall for those, there's never enough.

Train your kid with common sense will help.  Bring him/her to different places like wet markets, beaches, parks, museums...

如果係十年前有呢張cert可能好勁 E+好多小朋友都有, 而咁
細個比你攞到merit都nothing special.  比賽當日只有個judge同applicant, 好主觀, 通常小朋友能完成都有"良". 我覺得報吓kids gallery 既 drama course or 參加吓d朗誦比賽, 起碼小朋友可以face to the crowd, 又可增加自信心...
我當初都係比個負責人話點好點勁, 報左個course要六千元 頭十堂都未正式教d乜...要花咁多錢+ 時間出黎都係好一般, 有被搵笨既感覺
小一interview其實真係睇小朋友表現多過其他, 除非有d真係好勁既ahievement, 如5級以上鋼琴

Totally agreed.  If the kid performance not well during the interview, no matter how good/superb the certificates are, I think is no use.

Don't just think to get the certificates, it is just a bonus. I think the most important thing is whether your child can learn something from the course.

Nowadays, every child will have at least 10-20 certificates, so, it is not that important whether you have these kind of certificates. Interview is more important than others. Trained him up to speak with different people that will help to build up confidence.

From my friends' experience, such certificates are not useful at all.
