小女升讀2D！妳地呢？

小女今年插班二年級，能否講解一下學校的要求，例如：考試的要求？功課會否很艱深？聞說要做許多閱讀報告，要做多少本？是否只須記錄書名，還是要寫感想或內容撮要？老師是否很嚴肅？
要問的問題太多，因為轉校，心情戰戰兢兢，煩請介紹一下。

Dear ncylam

Welcome!  

There will be 3 tests in a year (= exam because they do not have any exams).  Normally will know the date at least one month in advance.  So you will have sufficient time to prepare.

Yes, the school encourages the girls read a lot of books.  The class teacher will give them 1 Chinese and 1 English books every week.  Of course they can also go to library to get more books to read.  Reading report is easy, not to worry.

If you have questions, come to this topic and I am sure many mums will assist.

Thank you for your reply.
I have got a number of questions to ask.
1. How many papers are there in the English Exam? What are they?
2. Do they have any Exam/Test on the readers?
3. What is the average mark for most of the children?  
4. Is the Science and Maths Exam diffcult since they are both taught in English?
5. I want to take some photos in advance.  What is the size required?  Which colour of the uniform should be worn?  How about the background colour?
6.  Is there anything I need to prepare before schooling?

Dear ncylam

Like to share with you what I know.  If I miss anything, other mums please add on:

1). approx. 10 pages for each test.  the content includes the text book and word prefect.
2). yes, there will be another paper for the readers.  only a few pages.  apart from these two papers, there will be also oral test in the class.
3). I think average mark of my girl's class was 85+.
4). Science is not too difficult as they do not have to spell the words.  
Maths will need more practice as it will include what they learn in the whole year.
5). the size of photo I think is 1.5 inch. the one we took last year was blue uniform with white background.
6). We are going to have parent meeting in end of Aug.  Do you have the information?  I am sure you will know more in the meeting.

Not to worry too much - I am sure your daughter can handle.  :)
