父母血淚史...Local School 轉 IS

某日, 收到友人來電詢問有關IS的資料.."奇怪"..因朋友一向是LocalSchool的擁護者, 話匣子打開後, 竟是友人長達個多小時的訴苦....
話說友人千辛萬苦安排女兒入讀"德望女校", 以為可以安枕無憂完成中學. 由於老師一直都強調, 只要成績無見紅, 操行優良, 升中...無難度. 所以朋友連補習都免喇!
轉眼間, 女兒都已P6了, 一日(正是友人打電話給我當天)朋友與太太請定假帶同女兒返校, 一心以為是和老師商談有關升中事宜...誰不知老師指友人的女兒成績不達標, 請友人儘快尋找其它中學..."晴天霹靂".
由於友人沒有透露太多老師的說話...他只集中說他的感受...
友人說...他和太太跟老師在商談間...已强忍眼淚...老師的說話使他很不開心, 他想..女兒操行"A", 成績中中地, 但都不致於差到這些說話來形容....!
步出校門, 三人终於忍不住哭了起來...女兒的一番話, 另友人更傷心..."我每天做功課,温習已很努力, 還要應付各種課外活動, 我連一點點自己的時間及空間都已付出, 為什麼沒有回報.."
更諷刺的是友人的姪女卻從新界某名不經傳的學校考入了"德望中學", 原因是...姪女雖然成績不是標青一類, 但她卻是新界區學界游泳多項冠軍.
所以現在LocalSchool的方針是...
"讀書不單求分數, 還要求獎牌."

Being asked to change school is very normal in most famous local schools.  Heard that some DSS even kick out those they don't want at F.3 or F.4, so as not to affect the overall HKCEE results.  This is just the reality.

Actually, cannot join GH secondary may not be a bad thing for the girl... it may even be better for her to switch to another one which fits her!

This is afterall coming back to our choices.  But I always wonder without any first hand info or experience how can we make educated and wise choices!  We have tried traditional local school, and will be trying IS and DSS....let's see and feel what the differences are.  Again one school can be good for one kid but not really for another.  派到 or not 派到 心儀 schools, parents also cry....

I thought every school has to follow the rule for secondary school allocation system.

so it is not realistc to take it for granted that secondary school would accept every of her primary school student.

correct me if I am wrong.

你朋友的女兒轉校相信是件好事，就算比佢上到中學，真係多多都有得佢受，現在不是還更有開心美好的前程嗎

DSS school (e.g. Good Hope, St Paul's Convent) doesn't have to follow EMB's Secondary school allocation system.

those not following the rules are:
DBS- both primary and seocndary are DSS,
st. paul co-ed-both primary and seocndary are DSS,
st. paul convent -both primary and seocndary are DSS,

if one is DSS, one is private, or if both are DSS but not through-train, they still have to follow the rules.

St Paul's Convent Primary is private.
St Paul's Convent is DSS.
They are through-train school. Therefore, St Paul's Convent Primary is not participating in TSA.
