"RCHK 2007-08" information evening on 20 June.

Dear RCHK community,
I write to invite all current and future RCHK Parents and Guardians to our “RCHK 2007-08”
information evening on Wednesday, 20th June 7pm-8pm to be held in the Performing Arts
Centre.
During this evening we will be addressing the following
! RCHK officially an IB World School-What does this mean?
! The College Development plan 2007-2009-our goals and priorities
! The action plan for the Primary Years Programme (1-6), Middle Years Programme
(7-11) and the Diploma Programme (12-13)
! The rationale behind the structure of the day in Primary School and Secondary
School (Primary 8:40am-2:40pm) (Secondary 8:40am-3:20pm)
! What does a commitment to CAS mean at RCHK?
! The learner profiles and expectations for all RCHK students and community
members.
! The digital learning environment and how my child will access this across the
College
! Beyond the Classroom- Excursions, Expeditions, Camps, Field Trips and Outdoor
education at RCHK
This event is an opportunity for all Parents and Guardians to gather at RCHK and be
informed about our next academic year and the developments in place that improve the
learning environment further.
I look forward to seeing all our ‘Renaissance Parents’.

I suggest that you can study this forum to get more information about RC.  I'd been in RC ONLY in reception area and canteen for the application form submission.  My boy had never been in RC as well.  So, I can't tell you much about the school.  I've only got some positive information from the existing RC parents, those comments are good.  Only one "bad" comment, (I'm not sure whether it is bad) students speak Cantonese in the school.

I called RC yesterday concerning about if year 1 students after BOO BOO, will anyone help them to clean?  A staff answered not sure but she "thought" someone will help them.  Whatever answer, I think it's time to train him to clean by himself.

Hm...., I don't have any preparations actually.  Just take it easy.

If you have question, you can find the topic of "RC parents, let's share", go in and ask them.  They will answer you, they are nice. :wink:

Hello, everyone! Nice to meet you all here, and my daughter will be P1 student in 07/08.

Actually, I asked via email the admission last Friday about the date of the induction day, while we need to arrange the schedule for our summer holiday.  I am still waiting for their answer.  

Last Saturday morning, we went to Ma On Shan, and surprisingly we could go into the campus.  So we walked around the playground and we didn't go up.  We found a foreign tennis coach, who was teaching two students.  The coach was so patient that he kept giving positive reinforcement to the students when the student could make some improvements.  From my point of view, tennis is rather difficult to learn and to teach, in comparison to badminton and squash.  So, I think both the coach and students have done their best.  

Funny thing is that we found some tri-cycle parking in the playground.  My daughter felt exciting about this, as she could play in the school just like in kindergarten.  

And, I found some activities organized in the RC campus for both RC students and outsiders.  I think that's why we could go into the campus without any questions.  We are wondering which organization is providing these activities, as we want our daughter could have more time to get used to the new campus.  Anyone knows?

Hi schiu999,

Those activities are probably held by ESL.  ESL rents the school premises for their sports programs after school hours, Sats & during Summer holidays.  I know Da Li Swimming Club or other sports club is/are going to use the swimming pool for their summer courses.

The tricycles are only reserved for P1 & P2 students.  Guess your girl will have the chance to use them.  There is a fixed schedule in the week for students to take turn to play during lunch.

Except for the playground you've seen, there is one smaller playing area on 1/F where there are monkey bars something.  Students will sometimes have their PE lessons on roof top, gym rooms, swimming pool, etc.  Surely there will be different varieties for kids to play.

Dear RC parents,
Do you know what is Admissions Screening for YR 1?
How to test with the small child and How long the test? Is the student go inside to test or with the parent(s) together!
After this accessment have any interview test???
Please let me know and we'll attend on this month.

Today, we received the letter for interviews of Admissions Screening. Anyone know is this same as first interview or they prefer second interview later!
How about yr boy how to interview Yr 1 . Can you share any experience of this.
