Can only agree....I was visiting the site the other day and was guessing on the same.  A couple of years later the site will be quite crowded with another school next to the primary section. The only good thing is then the buildings will block the sunlight in the afternoon....

Yes, I will give up the governmnet school lucky draw. I think the education system is in crisis having children who have no motivation to learn by themselves because they are too busy in handling all the tests, exams and homework.  The dark side of it is that they work hard to satisfy parents and high marks or teachers' expectation without knowing true meaning of learning.  I don't want my son to follow my footstep.....I didn't really understand until I graduated!

Luckly my girl accecped , our place to lives is far away from shek mum, this is why i'm still considering, i"m totally agree with what 's your point,I'm the one who suffured in h.k traditionally education either.

Dear potential BU parents...

From what we can read on current parents' posts, it also looks like there are various stuff to handle such as daily homework, notices (some of them are quite confusing), tests (mini ones), etc. which do not sound any different to traditional schools.  What do you think?  Am I interpreting correctly?  I really want to know as our elder son has suffered from all of these in traditional school.  Will A-school be different?

Hi Jim,
I'm G1 class parent, so far i didn't encounter the problem you mentioned below.  My daughter can finish the homework within 15mins.  She can still go to playground everyday.  Up to now, there is only 1 Chinese Dictation & 1 Math quiz in my daughter's class.  Both are easy to handle.  However, you may need to spend some times reading the English story book with your child (roughly 1 book per week) and have to prepare the presentation in English lesson (once a month)

非常同意大小B的說話!

我相信現時的功課量是適中的, 有時候２至３項, 每項約須5至10分鈡完成, 有時候只有一項, 仲只係貼一張worksheet在功課薄上! 默書及小測等等就因小朋友而異, 不竟小孩子們來自不同幼稚園, 但內容亦是課程covered過的! So far, 一個月來亦只有一次默書, 一次數學小測 及一些英文spelling test. 學校對小朋友有適量及適當的要求, 我覺得是對孩子好的, 而家長亦可從中了觧課程的進度和孩子的能力嘛!

其實學校是鼓勵孩子們多元學習, 所以一些「課外活動」亦納入課程內, 小朋友在校內除了讀書還有很多嘗試. 這一個月內, 小兒開始學習朗誦, 電腦, 乒乓球, 合唱團 ... 等. 在我接送兒子上學的時候, 見到的小朋友都是歡天喜地 .... 笑着上學, 笑着放學, 所以, 我很喜歡接送兒子!!  一些少在 notices 或溝通上的混亂, 亦冇須計較了! 畢竟這是一所新學校!!

so far, 我很滿意. 相信我的兒子亦一樣.

Thanks very much for the sharing!  I was hoping to put my son into a school which has the academic part and also the creative part.  Traditional schools focus more on academic and may need to sacrifice the creative and the learning part.  This is what happened with my elder son.  That's also why I started looking at DSS when it came to my 2nd son.  I can accept some confusion about notices and arrangements as this is a brand new school, only that the tolerance to loads of homework is really a test to me.  I don't mind doing the reading, as we already do that now and I buy this concept alot.  And if the school has the thinking of facilitating the kids to look after themselves in terms of daily activities and homework, it's even better!

I will matriculate BU school.  It's very dangerous if you don't because I guess the waiting list is long.  They received over 1000 applications this year!

I realized that the PM link doesn't work all the time in alerting (all does it alert at all)?  So every time I have to go in to check instead of getting an alert.......
