Wow porkma, we got the same situation as you. My son cried once enter the school and refused by teacher (ask him to calm down first) for twice. So we gave up la. No hope!
While we are claiming that the PN interview is very difficult and unreasonable, please take a look of 小一選校, som parents compared Primary 1 interview and PN/K1 interview and found that Primary 1 interview is MUCH MORE demanding and competitive.
I seriously think the interview arrangement is very poor and time wasting. The school could of group the "Story time" & the "Individual interview" together rather than divided into two parts!?!? Last part was even more ridiculous, the parent has to fill out a questionnaire with the child side by side in an exam setting. My hubby said that totally shocked him!! The exam setting gave others the impression that the school was totally strict - is the 2 yrs old going to write exams?? I have to look after my son which he was actually not feeling well and filled out the long questionnaire at the same time. Where most other kinders will send out the form and ask the parent to fill at home and bring along to the interview. At the very end, the principal asked all the interviewed kids to return and bring the form to her, she mus-pronounced my son's name, The saddest part was she said to my son: "you can leave now!" The whole interview process took 1 1/2 hr to 2 hrs and how can blames some of the parents lost patients at the teacher. It was total disappointment despite all good comments on the blog. Even though my son did quite well at the interview, we won't put him there.
Totally agree! The school assesses students with various aspects in both Chinese, English as well as in individual and group setting. Observing a student cannot be done by 5-10 minutes. The last part of filling the questionnaire aims at observing the students to see if they can concentrate and/or love reading.
To declare, as the parents of LHK, I totally trust and agree with the school. The school really spends lots of efforts in developing their students.
In my opinion, having a right match between the school and the parents is very important. Different parents have different preferences on the school.
