Actually I won't compare with other kids coz each kid is unique. But since you ask me if it is a good age for them to learn swimming, I think the earlier the better coz they are not too scared of the water. Preston is more scared of the water as he grows older (b4 he could jump into the water by himself).

I plan not to arrange courses on Sunday coz is family day, maybe Sunday school at church later only. Anyway I'll wait till Sept when things are more settled.

Brian is now joining two courses every week (Kumon Math and Art class).  I will let him try the piano summer class to see if he likes it.

how come your helper resigned all of a sudden ?  it's really a trouble if you can find one asap.

you've got the exact point that i worry about scheduling for extra curricular activities - sleep pattern.  you know we have to choose the suitable school, suitable course & suitable timing & this is really sth.  anyway, thanks for your input.

i understand your point.  people do change when they grow up.  i hope that Preston would not be scared of water very soon.

What happen to your maid? How long has she worked for your family? I guess you have to find those that just finished contract.

Does Brian like Kumon? What level is he in now?

For me, swimming and math is kind os a 'must' to learn, especially for boys. I choose to let him learn different things at a younger age to find out his interest or potential.

Brian is now at the Level 6A160.  He can manage to finish the homework in 10 min and he has no problem with this level.  

However, he was assigned with only one set of new homework every week.  The progress assigned to him is pretty slow.  I guess he will be promoted to 5A after a month.  

How about Preston?  Was he promoted recently?

Preston is in 4A140, sometimes he likes to do it and sometimes he needs a little push. But I'm thinking may stop soon and change to something else. I don't have any plan yet, but probably decide after the sumer holiday.

Kumon Math Level 3A deals with addition.  That's too much for a kid of age 4-5 to learn addition of +2, +3 ......

Did you call the agent finally?  I went to the Centre again yesterday evening to pay cheque and I saw a number of maids waiting for interview.

I'm not sure if Kumon math can really help math skill.  To me, it seems that it's a way to keep practising the same thing over and over again.  That's why I don't consider now to send Davin for Kumon math.

Actually, the Kumon exercises for Level 7A to 4A are good for kids of small age.  The exercises at these 4 levels don't aim at training Math skill, but to let kids recognize the relationship between quantities and numbers and to train their writing skill.

After working on Level 6 (counting orderly arranged dots) for a month, Brian has learnt some special skills in reading time. e.g. he understands that 兩點一個字 is equivalent to 兩點零五分． So far, he can relate 1 -> 5, 2 -> 10, up to 7 -> 35.

Will you consider Kumon English?  I wonder if kids will like this kind of training: listening to the CD and repeating what was said.  Sounds boring.

Brian is very good at reading time. It's a difficult concept which kids won't understand until age 5 or more. Preston knows the time every hour and half an hour, others not quite sure yet.
Preston has some concepts in addition and subtraction. A few months ago we were on the shuttle bus. Preston asked why the bus still not departing. I told him the bus would depart at 6:12 and now was 6:09. Then he said we had to wait for 3 more minutes. So I guess Kumon made him very good at counting so he knew the answer. Sometimes he would do some simple addition by himself using fingers.
As for Kumon english, I would not consider.Preston is a bit advance in English esp. vocab. but his weak point is too shy to speak or read in front fo the class. So I may find some other course to train his presentation skills instead.

I am afraid of the local maid.Cos, I employ this B4.
my maid  will leave at 8/8.She do not wait for my new maid arrived. I have a big problem.  

Maybe ,I will request my night duty for 2 months if no any solution. This is so harsh . But , no any choice.

  Tom Lee is not focus on teaching children how to play the piano, just to creative. My friend told me that the course is good but it cannot teach how to play piano properly.Sometime she teach her chidren play in properly posture after taking Tom Lee course.

Preston is so smart that he can do this type of counting.  Brian's counting ability is up to +1 so far.

Do you plan to hire a maid who has not worked in HK before?  It takes much longer and you will have a hard time in the coming two months.  By the way, have you chosen a suitable one yet?

Wow, Preston is really ahead of the others in terms of math.

It's interesting to see many classmates were early today.  Noticed that they were so excited about the trip to the zoo.

Btw, do you have any primary schools now in your priority list ?

I guess Kumon helps in some aspects at this stage. They make the kids do counting up to 200. The kids know the numbers so well that it can help with additons later.

Try to find those that just finished contract. I had the same problem last year coz I hired one but I fired her after 6 days and I needed someone urgent. Then I hire my current maid who just finished contract and she could come within 2 weeks. She is very good and one good point to hire someone in HK that you can meet her directly. My agent has some maids available, if you need help, let me know. BTW, which hospital are you working at? I work in a hospital too.

Dear all,

I also noticed that many K1 kids arrived early this morning.  They didn't join the morning exercise with kids of other levels.  Instead, they got prepared in the classrooms and left the school at around 9.15am.  They were all excited.

They came back to school a bit late.  Most of them were tired, but they were still happy.  Finally, they were released at around 12.15pm

Brian told me that Ka Ka cried in the coach bus but he couldn't tell me the reason.  Miss Jill had to hug her and bring her back to the classroom.

I can understand that they were tired.  They had to be exposed under the sun for more than an hour (I guess).  Maybe they will take longer nap in the afternoon.

Ka Ka is sometimes emotional, but I think it's okay as long as one can express his own feeling.

Preston told me that he was happy today (although he said he didn't want to go last night). He told me that there was no snack time today?! I think they have more outing in K2. Preston is emotional sometimes, that's why I let him join the EQ course by Dr. Chow.
