We'll visit Dr. Trodd on coming Sat morning and will also try the high dosage of B12 shot.  It's better to observe the monkey boy closely if there's any side effect during the weekend.  I'll probably shift my son to Dr. Lam if we find some significant improvement on high dosage of B12.

This is my understanding on the current MB12 injection from Dr Trodd:
The current dosage, i.e. 1.25mg is equal to 1250mcg per shot.  
Dr Neubrander's protocol is 64.5 mcg/kg once every 3 days.  For a 18kg boy (around 40 pound), it requires 1161mcg per shot.  Therefore Dr Trodd's current prescription at 1250mcg / 0.25ml is even a bit higher than Dr Neubrander's protocol.  

The only difference is the concentration.  Dr Neubrander recommended the concentration at 25 mg/ml so that it provides the least surface area resulting in a slower and more uniform rate of release.  Therefore to take 1250mcg, only 0.05ml per shot will be required.  As the volume is too low, it will be very difficult to manage and I think that's why Dr Trodd did not recommend parents to do it by themselves.

Please correct me if my understanding above is wrong.

According to my experience, a restrictive diet without starch is the most efficient way to kill the yeast in addition to taking yeast control medicine.  That's why my son seldom eats starch.  Apart from this, DMSA may facilitate yeast growth.  Be alert while the child is taking DMSA.  I don't let my son eat starch especially when he is taking DMSA.  So far, he shows good progress (in terms of expression and communication) after taking DMSA and B-12.

我個仔之前做完dmsa provocation test之後, 第2次見dr trodd, 佢就叫我開始俾2個round的dmsa(3日on, 11日off)俾我個仔, 但係因為阿仔之後勁燒, 又食咗antibiotics, 完咗又yeast overgrowth, 又開始食diflucan, 所以一直延遲冇俾佢食dmsa. 不過我聽另一個家長話, 有隻td form的dmsa, 冇咁容易引起yeast overgrowth, 所以我都打算俾阿仔轉用td form dmsa. 你有冇聽過呀?

我仔仔都有試過停打B12, 我係專登停打睇下有咩唔同，結果大約6星期後先見佢awareness 方面明顯regress, 之後打番MB12 但就要重新experience過hyperactive的問題。

Dear ultramom,
I have not heard of td form dmsa.  But I know that the health condition of the child must be excellent before he takes DMSA as DMSA may be harmful to the child's health to a certain extent.

Talking about B-12.  I went to Dr. Trodd yesterday and understood he had ordered some B-12 nasal spray.  They are currently under the possession of the Custom Department and he did not know if they are still good by th time they reach his clinic.  That is supposed to help with milder cases and can replace B-12 shots.  However, he still commented that B-12 injections is the most reliable as it goes directly into the blood stream.

Hi mrsphcheung,

For my son's case, if my memory is still correct, he showed immediately improvement in awareness right after the shot.  He reponded faster when we called his name and asked him to do things.  However, he was also very hyperactive on that night (very excited, running around and refused to stop).  As time past, I could hardly figure out whether his good attention and engagement was due to B12, other supplements or the intensive training.  Therefore I stopped the B12 for about 6 weeks to see the effect.  Later on, it was proved to be effective in terms of awareness on my son. But according to Dr Jill James, she thought that the B12+ folinic acid together work well with my son.

Jody Mok just rang me during lunch time and promised to refund to us (those who bought from her at $2,180) the differenct of $500.  But she emphasized that any future referrals will be on original price i.e. 2,180 and no more discounts can be offered.
