Your queries is about the time issue problem.

When each of the kid reach the age of 5.8 yrs old, they must apply for the Primary School application as governed by EMB.

Public School:-

Start from this year, Sept 1 will be opened for application and need to fill in the form, that is for the local public school application and can consider Phrase 1 application, this Phrase 1 will be based on the point system of every kid, like whether first kid of the family, any religion, old boy or girl, sibiling or parents work in that school.  Application form has to return by mid Sept.  The result will be announced in mid Nov and if accepted, case closed.

If not has to wait until mid January for the Phrase 2 application, that is so called by chance, the lucky draw as another application form will need to submit and that is based on the preference of school that you put in the form.  The govt will based on the selection to draw lot, if lucky enough, you can go to the dream school you have put in the form.  This is purely by luck.  Announcement will be released in mid June.  Either you will take the school assigned by the govt or you will do the "asking for favor" from your dream school.

Private School/Direct Subsidy School:-

The above school will open for application vary from each school, normally from mid Sept to Nov, and interview will be granted for a week or two and announcement will be released before the announcement of the Phrase 1 of public school.  

Competition is tense vary from schools and profile will be preferable for the application.  Some school require you to forefeit your dream school, that is the public school, so may be hard to decide.

我推薦你選油塘基顯,一所不錯的學校,李少鶴校長更是名校田灣始南小學派過去的,我個仔今年在這間學校讀小一,校風優良,老師又有學歷,我聽一些有高年級仔女的家長講,間學校的英文老師個個都通過基準,有D更讀完碩士,而且個校長都好重視英文的教育,我覺得選油塘基顯是最好的

Hi cheerfulbaby,

Yes, it doesn't matter of international school, local kindergarten, or even no.  As long as your child is born in the same year,  i.e. year 2000 for next year P.1 or below 7 years old, then the child is entitled for the central allocation.

No, I won't.

The reason is simple: if you want your kid to be become a honest person, how can you, as parent, show him/her such a bad example of telling lie yourself.

The only way out under the circumstances is to move to live in the net in which your dreamed/intended schools situate.
