I told the story about elevant. Davin was very interested and good respond to me. Ka Ka was not happy because she said I would leave after completed the story Actually, she missed me

i do think ka ka is quite stable & independent (according to my observation before morning exercise time).

It's good you can be the story mother. Preston always asks me to be the story mother when he saw other moms pariticipating. I went once last year and I could tell he's very happy and proud that his mom was there. I hope I can arrange some time and do this again.

Dear all,

I was a story mother last year and the feeling was really good.  Brian asked me several times this year to be a story mother again.  However, the timing is not good and I am not available on all Monday mornings this year.

Brian and Cheuk Yan will start the normal Kumon lesson this Sat.  However, they both used to take nap at around 2pm, so we've chosen 5-6pm finally.  BTW, at what level is Preston now?  Brian and Cheuk Yan will have to start from 7A.

Did Brian and Cheuk Yan do the assessment? Preston started with 7A100 and now he just proceeds to 4A (just last week). Miss Kwong is quite nice and the kids like her.
Hin Man (he was in PNB) is taking Kumon with Preston as well. But he's currently taking Kumon Chinese, English and Math together( he needs to do 30 pages of homework every day), plus other courses, altogether I think he's taking ~7-8 courses. However, he doesn't have much time at home (he is in full-day class) and now he has some behaviour problems according to his mom. He's very smart but not easy to teach. He just talks and acts like a primary student.

wow.  is it a bit too much ?  and, did he start to have behavioral problem after taking 7-8 course (+ full day class).  i can understand why he's got problem.  goodness.  he's only 3-4 years old.

i don't think hin man would like to talk & play with his parents a lot at night as he's so tired during the day.  poor him !

i know a friend whose son is quite smart.  he does not have to watch closely on his son for homework & study.  he does not put him to any tutorial class.  still, he gets outstanding academic result.

That's too much to have 7-8 courses for a small kid.  Maybe Hin Man's Mom just wants to keep Hin Man busy and not feeling bored while his parents are out for work.

BTW, do you two have any plan for tomorrow?  Too bad that I've got bronchitis and I've been coughing seriously for over 10 days.  I started anti-biotics treatment three days ago.  Hope the medicines work.

Yes, Brian and Cheuk Yan did the assessment before the trial class.  They both started with 7A100.  I haven't met the teacher in these two weeks.  It's the principal who talked to the parents of trial class.

No special activity yesterday.  Family gathering only.

I attended the review session after class observation today.  Quite useful as the principal explains to us in details the flow each day & the teaching progress in K2 & K3.  We had good discussion through feedback, comment & the response from the principal.

I wish I was in LH this morning.  I told Brian about the class observation and he asked if I could take today off and join.  He was disappointed when I told him that I couldn't.  

Anyway, I wasn't there last year as well but it's good that the principal called me the next day and asked if I have any comment or suggestion.

What did the principal say about K2 and K3? Did she mention about things the school will do for the preparation of interviews?

Too bad you weren't able to attend. Brian was very active in participating in class. I observed the kids like Miss Cheng more than Miss Jill. Preston did not pay good attention in Miss Jill's session and just kept talking to WingWing. Maybe he knows the stuff already and the way Miss Jill taught is less attractive and I feel she doesn't really have the 'heart' as some other teachers do. She's nice to the kids but it feels like she treats this as a 'job' only.

Yesterday we had a great time going out with 2 other families and went to Cheung Chau. We did some hiking and went to Cheung Po Tasi Cave. However, Preston was really scared of the dark (it's very dark inside and you need a torch to see) and he ended up crying and did not go in. But then he had a lot of fun playing at the beach and he's not scared of the water as last year. the weather was too hot though.

The principal did not say anything about preparation of interview, and we did not ask either.  She talked about the learning progress of Chinese & English.

When you compare Miss Cheng & Miss Jill, Miss Cheng certainly stood out.  The principal said that Miss Jill was a very shy & nervous person.  And, she is too new here.  I do think that she has done a good job.  The principal mentioned that she also needed some feedback so that she could improve her job.

Talking about the daily flow, the one that we observed yesterday was packed.  Normally, after English lesson, they had activity.  After that, Chinese lesson & activity...  Kids would not be sitting still at the same place for more than 20 minutes.  And, they are split into two groups for lesson during the day.  It's normal that kids won't pay attention all the time.

Wow, another outing & hiking for Preston.  Good !

I also plan to take the day off next Monday.  I will attend the interview at 9am & after which we will go to Ocean Park.

I attended the interview today coz I'm off this week. Miss Cheng explained to me about the flow yesterday and was a bit different to usual class. Anyway, all the kids performed very well.
You should take Davin to Ocean Park to see the reptiles, frogs, Artic fox and wolf... It's very interesting and kids like the animals.

I know that Preston shared pictures taken during your visit to the zoo in China.  Preston should have enjoyed very much.  I do look forward to the visit to Ocean Park as I know there are a lot of animals to see during this period.

Talking about the interview,  did the teachers mention anything new about Preston (compared to the last interview) ?

I heard from your mom that you are still sick & you didn't want to affect the kids.  That's why you did not attend the class observation.  What a pity !  Hope you'd get well soon.

Thanks a lot for your caring.  The previous anti-biotics didn't work on my bronchitis and I am now taking the second course.  I cough a lot in daytime and it affects my work much.

It's good that you can take Davin to the Ocean Park next Monday.  It will be less crowded on weekdays and Davin will enjoy it.

About the class observation, Miss Cheng told me during the interview that Preston was very happy to see me. However, Brian was a bit depressed that you weren't there and Miss Cheng promised to call you later to tell you that Brian did very well in class. Later on, before school finished that day, Miss Cheng said Preston reminded her to call Brian's mom.

About the interview, nothing really special, overall Preston is improving esp. in the EQ  (his weakest aspect. Nothing to worry about his acedemic, just need to improve his social skills.
