It is human nature that: you pay a lot to get a seat in a private school, which received a lot of praise from parents generally; but latter you found that it still take in waiting list students till term starts.  It makes you wonder whether this school is really that good and demand such geat effort and large sum of money to get in.

Do other famous private schools still taking in students till term starts???? :-|

Your question is very sensible and I am just offering possible explanations as it happens that I know some girls of the aforesaid 3 categories.

Well, as to whether other famous private schools still taking in students till term starts, I am not sure, but I am inclined to believe do.  First, the declining birth rate prompts private schools to compete for customers; second and personally believe that it is very commonsensical for private school to make money.

If you would agree APS is famous, then I happen to know 2 girls (1 colleague and 1 classmate) were only taken in late August last year.  

A transfer from famous to less famous private schools in the middle of term is also common.  Last year heard that 4 kids withdrew SFA to somewhere else after one-month studying.  A kid quitted APS to Creative (the latter is much more expensive) after the first term.

Also two KG  classmates were called up around 28/8-1/9 by Maryknoll, even after paying so much for GHS.  

Also an interesting case which happened 3 years ago: a waiting list candidate (P.3 in coming Sept) was called up by St. Paul Co-ed. to fill up the place left after formal registration and payment of the school fee for the first month.  

Every year, DGJS takes up a few around late June to mid-July, which means some finally decide to give up their precious places gained before Christmas.  

So, my very personal view is that while some are willing to pay so much to buy time, it is not that weird for some schools to take in more waiting-list kids until the term begins.

As to whether GH is worth taking, it depends very much on your needs and expectations, just like some prefer apples while the others oranges.  
You can love some one for no reason, but you can come up with millions of reasons to hate some one as well.  If you ask me to name the bad points, I can come up with 3 pages, e.g., expensive, half-day sessions in alternate years, rushy, too crowded, etc.   

So, good luck and hope your girl will have a rewarding school year.

PS: just want to hard-sell one thing.  GH is quite generous as it only requires you to pay school fee in Aug, while some Kowloon City and Kowloon Tong schools ask you to pay several Ks right after the lucky draw.

Another PS: maybe other parents can help.

Thanks for your support and encouragement.  To supplement your information, my colleague's daughter (will promote to P5 in coming Sept. at GHS), was accepted by GHS several years ago, paid the school fee and then St. Mary called her for an interview in late August.  My colleagues refused the interview and stick to GHS till now.  My colleagues said her daughter had been enjoying her GHS's life since then.

You are welcome.  And glad you have other information as I am afraid I would be accused of being so 'hard-sell' here.    

GH is still popular among parents.  (hard-sell again ) You will soon find quite a number of your daughter's classmates coming from such private one-dragons like Mung Sung, Tak Nga, etc.  They come here surely not because of expensive school fee.        

Wish your daughter has 緣份 with GH like your colleague's.

唔緊要, 好快換, 又做善事.  GH's 校服商係受惠機構, 判比d自力更生婦女团体.  d 錢 and quality 係爭 d.    下一對等大公司 sale 先買.  第一對用呢對 ok la, 比個  model 你 see see 校服規舉
orientation day 會好 strict 去 check/教 衣飾   remember 全副武裝去比 class teacher 執.

上年 orientation, class teacher check 鞋, teacher 做完briefing, 逐行 check, eggegg 縮埋對腳, 因佢嗰對鞋面上有個'啤'凹入 Kitty 公仔 (對鞋係 K2 second term 中期 buy, and 基於原則, 想等唔啱 size or worn out 先 buy).  我心想, 你 eggegg 咪當 teacher 死 ga, orientation 出動 2 teachers to check, 點會 see 唔到 最後無話有問題, eggegg 着到夠期換.  新一對當然合規舉多 d, 因為 eggegg 跟足規舉 order 我買 new shoes

英數有教, 比例少 d, 只教某部份 (初小 ah ma)

宗教 and 音樂 可用 used books. eggegg 呢2科用 2手, 尤其本宗教,  用完 = 無用過.  
因用2手而白眼 >>> 一般都無 (校長間中仲免学費收清貧學生, 我相信佢地多數用２手書.).  又有d有家姐, d minor subjects 無理由用新書.

老老實實, 雖則有$比學費, 用書偏貴, 仲要唔係本本用到殘
  有家姐就有得執, d twins 要X2, 夠供多個

用舊書會比老師白眼佢架, 因為我想環保

Using new books is better because the teachers always complaint.
Finally I brought the books all new later after the compaints(many many times and every day happened) and my daughter said her feeling was not good ar! She always remind me to buy new books for the next year even she knows what is 環保.

本書係厚D , 花D , 但都OK, 先生淨係話 : 你本書好重窩 , 都冇勿評價啦 !

其實: MUSIC, READER, RK, COMPUTER，　ＰＴＨ，　呢Ｄ用舊書係ＯＫ　架！

"Cannot use this book, no sticker to do the homework in book, ask your mami to buy a new one" specially the putongha teacher.

用舊書要多做功夫架, 例如用 scanner scan番d image 落d label 紙做 sticker, tippex d 做左功課再 colour copy . 真係唔小功夫, 我試個三本舊書合成一本就係呢個原因啦 !

宣明會巢, 三本都係五-十紋, 係好平, 但就要落工夫架!
