10 min walk is normal walking speed, if for kids, it may take longer. Especially in the morning if they're in a hurry, it's easier to ride the school bus. The school bus fee is $320/month (both trips).

I watched the video taken on Wed by my Mom.  It's good to see that Brian was brave enough to sing the whole song.  It seems that the atmosphere was very good and the kids all enjoyed.

You will find that school bus is a very good choice for kids.  They may find it hard to walk a long way (even if it's 10 min walk) in summer, winter and on rainy days.

Preston went for the EQ test on Sat. The result was quite positive and Dr. Chow Yuen Fun said there was no need for further training. The assessment was quite details and lasted for 1 hour and then 1 hour of explaination. She gave us some recommendations on how to improve his EQ. But I think I'll consider some EQ course for him later, maybe in the summer.

It's good to know that Preston is good in EQ.

By the way, how was the EQ test run?  Did Dr. Chow make the assessment by asking questions and watching the kid's responses?  Is the test expensive?

I also let Davin sing in front of the others as I observe that he'd like to join if he sees someone else sing.  Miss Cheng said he was a bit nervous but could sing the whole song.

Davin got fever & is off from school today.  His body temp went up & down even after he took some medicine.  He also woke up in mid-night to we-we & he was 'hot'.  I did not sleep well.  So, I'm very sleepy now.

The test itself took ~1 hour. Dr. Chow stayed with him the whole time. She asked him questions, showed him some pictures and asked his responses and also watched him play, etc. E.g there was one picture (she expained to us afterwards) showing some kids playing football and there was a kid sitting at the side. Dr. Chow asked him why the kid did not join in to play the football. She said some kids would say the other kids did not like him and would not let him join. Preston's answer was that he did not like football and did not like to join. This expained that Preston is more optimistic person and his social skills is good that other kids rarely reject him. There were more questions similar like this. The assessment costs $2800.

Thanks for your information.  Preston is really smart!

I have read a book from the U library with similar questions long ago.  It is interesting that the kids' response can have many useful inferences and implications.

Thanks for your care.  Heard from my mother-in-law that he's getting better.  Yesterday, he was really sick.  Only played for a while & laid on the bed for most of the time.

Doris, what book about kids' EQ did you read from th U Li ?  I've read a lot of parenting book but nothing about the one that you mentioned.

Actually Preston is not smart (can't really tell from the EQ assessment), but can tell he's a secure, positive boy. The result was better than I expected but still a lot of room for improvement. He's still quite shy that he refused to sing in front of the school. I'm thinking of letting him studying whole day school later so the teacher can train him better.

I read that book long ago so I forgot the name.  I have only gone through a number of interesting tests and didn't read the whole book.  See if I can find it in bookstore.

Davin is back to school today.

I talked to a friend & she heard that VE campus may be closed as a result of Education Coupon system.  My friend (her son in HL campus now) also intends to switch to another school where she can get the subsidy.

What a bad news! It's so unfair to close a good school due to this unfair system. I really think choosing a school doesn't only depend on the school fee but the quality instead.

i hope this would not be true.

new songs for morning exercise this week.  and, it suddenly turns very cold today.  put on more clothes for your son.  the air-con of the classroom is off but a window is open a bit & so it's quite cold in the classroom.

It's really cold.  I kept on checking Brian in the last two night, just to make sure if he's warm enough in bed.

There are quite a number of kinders in the Whampoa area.  As far as I know, LH and another Po Leung Kuk kinder are the most popolar among parents, so source of students is not a problem.  However, the rent in Fisherman's Wharf is increasing recently.  I am not sure if it will affect LH.

Yesterday Miss Cheng called me & I asked her about the situation of the school.  She said that among all 3 campuses VE received the most applications.  So, it's not a problem at all.  On the other hand, there is more competition that LV school faces.  Relatively speaking, it receives the least applications.  Even so, she said they had no problem.  What a relief !

LH is a good school & I really want to see it growing.

I totally agree. I hope LH will keep growing and becomes more famous coz most of my friends haven't heard about this school. It needs time to build up reputations so the primary schools will like to accept the graduates.

Did you two read the letter to parents distributed yesterday?  LH will not join the education coupon scheme and the letter explains it in detail.

I saw Miss Cheng and Miss Hung this morning in LH.  The teachers are all busy in preparing for the Open Day.  I was amazed by the beautiful decorations in school, especially those at the entrance.
