Re: 真道中、小家長聚談
Dear KenBaBa, Cow, Daisy and Yuki,
I could imagine that discussions under the other topic would ignite active debates among the members. It's just a matter of time. Looks like it topped out the rest of the discussions in BK around midnight for the past 2 days. It is true that our school faces a barrage of criticisms in the BK forum each time it is discussed. Logos has often been a target of debate infestations over the years because of our principal's ideology of turning the school into one of its kind, away from the traditional. Rather than spending efforts in defending the criticisms posted by non-Logos parents, I tend to focus on critical thinking on how to make our school better. (don't get me wrong, I appreciate all your comments and posts in the other forum).
Here is a bit of my sharing......
As Daisy mentioned, Logos has a student body of more than a thousand. There are obviously different voices from the parents about every aspect surrounding the school. Complaints and criticisms usually serve as a means of striving for continuous improvement. No one has a clearer mind than PY about the list of things to be done in terms of improvement and upgrading. It's just a matter of time against priority. Let's face the fact that a new school will take years of striving hard work before it can become a "dream" school of everyone's choice. Without parents' support, any school would fail to survive.
Our school has a history of no more than five. If we look at it from the positive side, our principal has done tremendously well since the school's establishment. During this time, Logos has irrefutably gained a high recognition among the top EMB officials as well as renowned educators overseas. The only unknown factor at this time, which happens also to be the most crucial one, would be the outcome of the examination results of our kids at the end of their "Mastery Stage" against which universities they will be offered a place to attend. (unfortunately, this is the success index people in HK use to determine the school ranking).
Not every parent may come to agree to PY's management policy in terms of administration or education strategy, etc. But as far as the kids are concern, our goal is unanimous. Having the center of focus set on the interest of our children, I cannot agree more that the school's curriculum is solid, diversified, challenging and interesting. The faculty is professional, experienced and caring. Our kids are growing happier and smarter every day. It is also an undeniable fact that the school's waitlist remains surprisingly long despite the controversial criticisms here in the BK forum about PY's educational ideology against the practical, his basket of promises against the undeliverable, policy enforcement against administration competency, etc.
Every move our principal takes triggers voices. Those who support the school will take it as an echo, at the same time, go hand-in-hand with PY and strive for the betterment of the school. Nowadays, parents are smart. They have an acute sense of knowledge. They don't blindly send their children here to be the "white mouse". There are a million reasons why people choose Logos and why they don't. Over the three short years since my child started her FS1, I was one of the many parents at Logos to witness PY's leadership in building up the school. For those who think PY's performance failed to live up to their expectations, they may have to decide a most favourable solution for the benefit of their kids. Yet, success does not prevail without persistence, trust and efforts. I'm proud to be a Logos parent and proud to remain as one.
