係.,..好多學校都有用cert去encourage學生, 我都同意用此方法有激勵作用。

Formative performance 真係好抽象呀, 点evaluate呢? 平時上堂表現, 乖吾乖.... 我本人吾反對, 咁同操行分有何分别, 我吾覺得quiz 同 dictation 有放落去平分。

Summative 就绝對明顯過, 最高分咪攞 1st prize.....

其實好多傳統而又好的小學己不會公報名次, 雖然EC都無把名次放在成績表上, 但真係好難做到求學 不是求分數呢！

I'm quite sure "Quiz" are included. Couple of weeks ago when there were many P1 students on sick leave, including Hayden, quite a lot of them miss the Maths Quiz.  When I called the teacher, she told me that the school was considering to re-arrange the Quiz for those absent in order not to affect their assessment.  That's why I believe it is being included in , perhaps in Formative assessment.

My daughter's got the "formative" cert, but don't hv any marks or reasons why she's got it.  If you hv queries, I suggest you to call the class teachers to clarify.  They are happy to answer your questions.  All messages we posted here are only our own thinking.

just talked to Hayden last night....He told me a long list of names in his class with good performance.....but not sure his memory is acurrate or not ?
Edison, Rayon , Daniel , Ian are in his memory : ...

I am not sure how did the school came up with these awards but Raylon was very happy when he took a few home last night.  Will need to find out after next exams to see if these are to encourage him or to ruin him.  I just surrender him to God to lead.

I don't quite believe the ranking reflecting the kids capability. I think the ranks between 1-20 are too close to rank them.  This probably means that 1 punctuation mistake will slide the kid from rank number 1 down to 15 (just guessing).   Something like the snake and ladder game, 1 point more or less might take you to 99 or slide down to 55. Varies awards is good idea to keep them going but not sure the best way to handle this.

各家長唔駛咁緊張，對P1黎講只是第一次考試而已。以後還有多的是，出到社會要面對的還不只這些呢！小朋友得到獎自己本身及家長故然開心，若然真的拿不到獎也就是家長發揮小宇宙的時候了。作為小朋友的引導者，應該能以客觀及正面的態度去把小孩子帶到適當的道路上，讓小朋友學習面對及思考問題。要是能在這裡學上寶貴一課，小朋友可能要比拿到獎項好上千倍呢！
家長的身教比言教由為重要，要知到家長的思想及心態，往往可由小朋友身上反影出來，因此家長必需以身作則樹立良好榜樣。

求學真的不是求分數！阿門

本人很認同你的睇法。
獎狀只是對學生表現的回饋,獲得固然開心;如果沒有也不須太介懷及著緊。比試總是有輸有嬴,咪當俾多d空間小朋友進步。最緊要家長知道自己的小朋友有沒有掌握好應學而未學好的知識,不要太過落後於他人。小朋友要走的路還漫長呢,平坦的路他們要走,崎嶇不平的路也要學習去走,這才會長大呢!

Sorry for my ignorance, I am not sure how to access the kid e-mail system at home and never done that before.  Is it the user id and password were given on the handbook?  Is the website same as the Evangel College?  Thanks, Brian

yes, that's right....ususally login name is a07xxxx, don't use the parent login
