11月尾出生的男仔, 畀佢做大仔好還是細仔好?如做大仔要讀多年k3,對佢讀小一係咪

According to my friend, his boy born in Dec 2000 and he were accepted by KTS, 禮賢, SF and 宣道 but failed in DBSPS 2nd interview last year. Now, he is studying P1 at 宣道. At the same time he is re-applying P1 of DBSPS and is waiting for 2nd in result now. If he can be accepted by DBSPS it is another example for reference.

我囝囝係2004年12月尾出世既細細仔. 我會照比佢出年9月讀K1, 唔會遲一年. 其間我會不斷觀察及和老師溝通, 如有需要我會比佢係 K1/K2重讀.

我覺得每個小朋友既發展都唔同, 唔可以一概而論既...... 如有需要咪repeat囉, 跟到既我會照比佢升上小一.

I overheard that there was successful case in last year, a boy finished P.1 in APS transferred to DBSPD and study P.1 again.  Is it true?

我小朋友12月份,今年P1.之前收集好多人的意見,決定俾佢做大仔好D,因為覺得做細仔個小朋友同家長都會好辛苦,始終男仔在小時候的吸收能力比較慢D.

The case that I overheard was happened in last year, that means the boy is now studying P2 in DBSPD.  Just overheard, not sure whether it is true.

I have a daughter studying in P1 this year who was born in December (year end). She got several choices when applying primary schools because of her performance. To me, if your kid is polite and responsive, I think they can have a seat in famous school even though they were born in year end.

Having said that, I admit that for those who were born in year end find quite difficult to catch up the tight schedule and understand the conceptual aspects. Dont' forget that they are only 6-yr old but have to encounter new environment and touch schedule.  They may require more time, may be several months, to adapt to.  I found that for those who were born at the beginning of the year can adapt to the new environment easily and their academic results, therefore, in general are good at the first few months.  

My advice to you is that if your kid studying in famous traditional school which emphasize on Math, it may not be favorable for the younger kid at the very beginning. However, I have heard that the learning gap between younger and elder kid will be narrowed down from P3 afterwards.   

If you decide to let your kid repeat, I prefer letting him repeat in kindergartner as they may feel hurt and sad when they found the friends they known in P1 could promote to P2 but not him.
