Anyway, Re MorningAnt message: I think choosing between St mary and St Paul's Convent is even more difficult, as both schools academic and ECA standard are really about the same in my opinion (ie, above average but not as distinguished as what i would expect from a prestigious school).... But people are more familiar with St Mary than St Paul's Convent, don't know why, but a lot of my friends from DGS and MCS are not very certain about SPC girls probably because SPC girls are not very active in inter-school activities. Not because of Kln/HK location issue. In their eyes, St Paul's CO-ED and St Stephen Girls' are the more distinguished schools on HK island. And I agree with them because as I stated my own ranking list in previous message, i ranked 1.DGS 2.MCS 3. St Stephen Girls 4.St Mary 5. Sacred Heart (for girls school).
Just my personal opinion based on how the school graduates present themselves in tertiary edu and in workforce.

From my personal observation of some girls graduated from the 2 schools, seems to me that MCS and St. Mary's girls are better in academics than SPC.  But I am not sure about the current batch as SPC has changed to DSS.

For working parents, I will choose SPC.

For the promotion to secondary, I will choose SPC.

For the new "中 學 教 學 語 言 及 升 中 機 制", I will choose SPC.

Even though SPC does not have so much open space, say lawn.. as MCS, I will choose SPC for bias.

如果用了[捨本取末]的方法選校, 可能最後會很後悔; 如果用[捨末取本]方法, 即著眼於根本而不著眼於小枝節, 則我作為St. Paul's Convent Old Girl, 有以下評價:

以中學而言 (就學校名氣 / 成績, 老師的支援, 考試秘技攻略mock卷, 將來在社會發展的網絡等) , St. Paul's Convent 好, 但 Maryknoll Convent 就更好, DGS女拔最好

如果個女讀得上, 家庭背景又支持到佢, 三間中學的選擇次序簡直不須猶疑, 應選 DGS > Maryknoll Convent > St. Paul's Convent; 至於其他交通問題, 相信亦容易克服

I have a girl studying in a private brand 1 school w/o Secondary Schl connection and her English is quite good.  MCS is our 1st choice of 2 rounds last year but failed.  What do you think that if we apply for P.2 this year?

Do you mean fm P1 to P6 考八十名內?  For example: If the girl could not get 八十名內 in one of the years or term, then she couldn't get into the secondary school??

I think there may be a mix up between St. Paul's Covent (Causeway Bay) and St Paul's Secondary (Happy Valley). There are much differences in their HKCEE results: St Paul's Convent got 1.15A while St Paul's Secondary got only 0.61A in 2002.

The followings are the 2002 average no. of A in HKCEE :

St. Paul Co-ed :2.09A
St. Paul's Convent :1.15A
MCS : 1.68A
St. Mary :0.92A
La Salle :1.52A
DBS : 1.65A
Wan Yan (HK) :1.24A
Pui Ching : ???A
Good Hope : ???A
St Joseph HK :???A
Belilios : 1.86A
