Re: 越來越多好中學轉直資/一條龍, 小學選校策略應否改變
立人兄:
一條龍中小學真的有絕對優勝嗎? I have a different view.
Under the proposed mechanism for English Secondary Schools, a secondary school is qualified to be an EMI only if it can satisfy 3 criteria - sufficient English media teachers, good faciliites for EMI and adequate English-adapted students (at least 85% under the proposal).
If a train-thru secondary school has to accept all students of its primary school. It has less chance to select students from outside. If those P6 students are not good enough in English and less than 85% cannot meet EMI requirements in consecutive years, the seconday school cannot be qualified as an EMI school. You know if it has been classified as Chinese secondary school, both the secondary and primary schools will be less attractive to the parents. The effects will circulates.
Anyway, I think most dragon schools now are good now, but NOT ALL are good. In particular, those government/subsidised schools will face higher risk as they have no right to choose students from P1.
Therefore I would prefer to choose a English media primary school no matter it is a train-through school, because these graduates are supposed to be more 搶手under the proposed regime.
How is your view?
