after spending a few whole days with davin (from Dec 22 to 26), he had separation anxiety again.  he's so attached to me & i have to be quite when i open the door & go out for work.

we just had buffet on 23th.  busier these few days as we will watch performance tonight & on 31th & bbq tomorrow evening & disneyland on Jan 2.

Finally they'll be back to school after a long holiday. How's your holidays?
We went hiking on Sunday 31st Dec at Lamma Island. We walked for almost 2 hours and Preston could walk almost the whole journey (he got very tired at the last 30 min.) But not bad for him coz there're some steep slopes and he could manage with encouragement.  It's fun and it's good for kids to get to know the nature.

We also went hiking some time ago & surprisingly Davin could also walk almost the whole journey (should be shorter than 2 hours).

We were to watch 2 shows (cultural shows) during the holiday but turned out that we could only watch half show.  Reason was that Davin hated loud noise (including clapping & laughing) & scared of darkness.  It was not the first time we tried to let him watch performance.  Ended up with same consequence.  I think we have to do something about this.

Maybe Davin is not ready for it. Preston is afraid of darkness as well. That's why we rarely take him to see shows (only once to Barney and once to movie). I guess it'll be better when they get older.

Happy New Year!
Haven't been to Baby Kingdom for long.

It's normal for kids to be afraid of darkness and loud voices.  I remember last time when I brought Brian to the cinema, he didn't feel good when the lights were off.

I plan to bring Brian to cinema for Happy Feet this weekend.  I hope he will like it this time.

Is it really normal ?  Davin even cried so we couldn't help but to get out of the theatre.

Good that school starts again & life returns normal.  Did enjoy holiday with Davin but somehow we have to get back to reality.  Plus, it's fun going to school learning through play.

Of course it's normal.  Not only darkness, but also a strange place will make a kid react in this way.

Brian was very excited to go to school this morning.  However, he temper was still bad recently and he screamed outside the school when my parents picked him up.  Really hope that the 'bad' cycle will go soon.

Why did Brian scream? Did he want to go to school instead of going home? Maybe it helps if you can find out the reason.

Preston had stomachache and vomiting tonight. Maybe my maid cooked some spagetti for lunch and used some sauce which had been in the fridge for a week. Hope he's fine tomorrow. :cry:

How is Preston now?  Could he go to school this morning?  Hope he will get well soon.

According to my Mom, Brian screamed yesterday after school when he saw my Mom bending her body and talking to Cheuk Yan at the door of the school.  Maybe he's a bit jealous.

Lydia, is Preston alright now ?

You may recall that Davin has got skin allergy problem.  Recently, we let him try those food he used to be allergic to bit by bit.  Seemed that he's getting better.  However, on Jan 1 evening, we suddenly noticed that he's got allergic again that there were soo many signs of 'mosquito bites' on his body.  We had never seen the case so serious before so we had him visited the doctor.  When asked by the doctor, we recalled that Davin pet a dog in the pet shop that afternoon.  Fortunately, he was okay after a few hours.  I would never let him pet any animal.

Btw, Lydia, when is the birthday party of Preston ?

Thanks for asking. Preston is fine now, maybe I let him vomited all the dirty stuff. And today he went to school without any more stomach pain, but his appetite is a bit poor. I think he is recovering.

Preston's birthday party is on 21st Jan , 3;30-5:00. I'll give you the invitation soon.
Davin is allergic to a lot of things. You must take extra precautions on him. Preston loves dogs so much he keeps asking he wants a dog at home. He'll go and pet any dogs in our estate (our estate allows pets so there are always a lot of dogs around).

Preston is also very jealous. He wouldn't even let me talk to other kids or hold other babies. He thinks mommy belongs to him and he's even jealous when daddy gets close to me.

I've been quite cautious about food intake.  I do not know that Davin is so allergic to animal.

How's the progress of Preston in piano lesson ?  Any report from the school for your reference so that you know what he has learnt & his progress ?

So far OK, coz we don't have a piano at home, he doesn't get any practice. Now he can recognise the keys pretty good and can play a short song by himself (learning to use both hands). There is no report unless you sit for the exam. He's not ready for it.

Has Davin's allergic reaction on pets been tested by the doctor before?  Sometimes, it's not avoidable that we will be in contact with pets on the street.  Luckily, Davin's allergic reaction is a relatively minor one.

How was Preston in the phonics class?  Brian joined the one for K1 kids.  Miss Jill revised the sounds of A, B and C with the kids and they had some artworks about alphabets.  Brian said he likes the class very much.

My family went to Ngong Ping yesterday.  Brian enjoyed so much.  He was interested in taking the 360 cable car and he likes the old buildings there.  However, there was a special event there yesterday (we didn't know it beforehand), so it was very crowded.  We left at about 3.30pm and Brian skipped his nap.

The reason I asked if there's any progress report was that parents may want to know what their kids have learnt so that they can practice at home.

I know it's not avoidable.  Yes, Davin is very allergic to dust mite, feather & pet.  Yet, as long as he does not touch those pets, he's fine.

Do you have to buy tickets in advance for Ngong Ping cable car ?

Preston did not really like cable car so we haven't thought of taking him to 360 yet (also it's also out of order). He's getting more afraid on anything recently. He can be afraid of the wind, leaves, loud noise... suddenly. So wierd. Anyway, I think boys should be more brave.
He attended the K2 letterland class last Sat. I asked Miss Jill and she said he's OK, just a bit quiet. They learn the word instead of the sound and they have a little bit writing. I didn't ask him, but I guess he's OK.

I will buy a piano to him if he continues to learn well. This is a big investment plus not much space at home. I need to think about it very carefully before I make the decision.

you may consider renting iso buying one piano if you're not sure yet.

i do agree that boy should be more brave.  davin is also afraid of strong wind & something that can fly including bird & butterfly and insects as well.

We bought the tickets of 360 at the counter there.  You may consider going in the morning instead of afternoon as return tickets may not be available after noon time.

I guess our kids are still too small to show their 'brave' side.  Brian is also afraid of flying objects and anything that will produce strange sound e.g. hair dryer.  He will never play with moving toys.

See.  So now I'm relieved.  Maybe our kids are still too small.  Davin hates the sound of hair dryer sometimes.  He is sometimes afraid of those toy cars that are moving under remote control.
