Does anyone know where are the music shops in Shengzen? I want to buy two more violins (1-4/4 and - 1/4) but with limited budget.

其實我係一個完全明白小朋友如何艱難,要何等毅力去學小提琴的媽咪。 因為囝囝每行一步我都同樣跟他行,佢跌我又跌,我好明白係學小提琴早期階段需要的毅力!
我年青時學過5年古箏, 以為雖然一把年紀但學小提琴應該無問題。誰知除了與老師的溝通外,我沒有什麼是優勝過囝囝, 一樣要由零開始! 再加上年紀大去考琴時真係有好大壓力!!但係有D嘢真係要試下先可以感受到。 好似有人話學小提琴早期練夾琴,拉弓,姿勢好悶。有幾悶? 我咁大個人都頂唔順, 所以有幾悶我真係好清楚! 如果你問要幾耐先可以考 grade? 此問題真係要問下你與小朋友有幾多心機同毅力!
我自己個人認為學樂器最主要一定係毅力,同時要勤力。當然如果有天份一定會事半功倍啦!
囝囝學小提琴時係3歲3個月開始, 因為佢心散, 無心機同我又懶懶地唔多練習, 所以學咗半年多都只係拉下弦, 成日就係拉一支歌, 都拉得唔好。後來佢有4歲, 我覺得唔可以再遊戲人間。從此佢每日都有練琴, 雖然有時會無mood,但10-15分鍾都ok架! 只要佢開始有成績, 會好有心機同主動!
所以請唔好咁怏或咁易放棄, 只要可以過到某一關, 條路會好行好多, 當然成條路係有好多關要過!
好似我自己咁, 一把年紀, 工作又忙,都堅持同囝囝一齊學,一齊練,最大的關口還是要步入試場。你試想想有個師奶去考初級小提琴, 幾好笑!
ireneirene, 話比你小朋知唔好氣餒, 當有日佢可以拉歌仔比人聽會好有滿足感! 比心機練習, 基本功係好重要!

可能係你個女手指按的力唔夠，又或者係她按錯位置，又或者個bow拉得太大力或細力，又或者拉之前沒有調好個音，不過再好就是問個老師會清楚些啦！

I see there are volins with the tuning part in wooden color, some are in black. The one in wooden color is much expensive. Is the wooden color one better?

The pegs (the "turning parts", and the fingerboard and tail piece as well) are usually made of ebony, which is either black or very dark in colour.  Ebony is one of the best choices for violin fittings (the others are boxwood and rosewood, some people prefer snakewood though).  Ebony is very hard.  It will sink if you put it in water.  Many cheap violins do not have real ebony set-ups.  Not uncommonly you will come across violins that are fitted with fake ebony fittings (made of some crappy wood but painted in black).  The cheap violins with black pegs that you see are probably one of those.

Hi Jackielee,

I am a serious amateur, not a professional.

I will not get too concerned about the quality of the wood in inexpensive violins.  The rule of thumb is that you usually get what you pay for, and you will never see a set of Bois d'Harmonie fittings (which costs $2,000 or more) on a violin that sells for a few hundred dollars.  I tend to think, in the case of beginning players, that playability is far more important than the quality of the wood.  Hence, I pay more attention to the set-up - do the pegs turn and hold well?  Is the fingerboard smooth?  Is the bridge too high or too low?  Does the soundpost fit well? ... For beginning players, it is very important that they get violins that are easy to play.  Chance is that the less experienced players can feel the pain caused by a bridge that is too high, but cannot tell the difference between ebony and rosewood.

I don't think I will buy a $2000+ violin, it seems $4xx and $9xx make no difference for me. :

都可以有好大分別...我唔識小提琴...我淨係對比下佢高音同低音部份出既聲靚唔靚.....已經有分別架啦

其實我鍾意啲"pegs"係木色嗰啲，望落好靚。
我lum如果亞女有個靚啲嘅琴，佢會有心機同練得開心啲。
佢已經講過幾次個琴too old and shabby，係表姐2年前「過户」比佢嘅！
