幫幫忙:選擇小學 ( St Paul convent or Maryknoll Convent)

I will choose Maryknoll Convent simply based on my own ranking regardless of being government, subsidized or DSS.
My ranking (girls school):
1.Diocesan Girls
2.Maryknoll Convent
3.St Stephen Girls
4. St Mary
5. Sacred Heart.

May I ask your advice in choosing between St Paul's Convent and St Mary?  Which one ranks higher?

Anyone knows if the rumour of MCS going to change into DSS next year is true?  Seems that it is reasonable for MCS to change as the subsidized schools have to decided to be 100% one-dragon or become DSS by 2007.  If MCS wants to maintain her competitiveness as top school, she has to change to DSS soon.

這是因為香港的學校的透明度太低了，家長只可以從小道消息得知學校的狀況。況且，很多家長都只是用求證的態度來詢問消息的真確性，熟知情況的便幫幫手吧。

說回選校，這個討論所談及的學校都很好，但各有所長。自問不能夠全職（或3�4職）教女的，便不要選DGJS；MCS與SMCS水準高，但壓力亦大，當中MCS的活動教多，SMCS的運動就渣些。SPCS不熟，不能給評語。

還有，不要忽略她們的中學，看看那一間和你的理念比較相近，分別是很大的。

Well, please don't complain my information is coming from unknown source.  All information, which I posted regarding the school policy for P.6 promoting to F.1, is coming from one of my best friend who is their existing pupil's parent.

Please be reminded that you can raise whatever you want.  But, please don't comment others.

我又擔心St Paul Convent 是直資學校, 到了中學時Band 1 至Band 3 的學生全部取錄, 會不會影響學校的教學水準呢?

我會選St Paul convent ，因為中學部中5同中７可以唔選HKCEE 同HK A-LEVEL而選英國IGCSE同GCS A -LEVEL課程。

我看不用擔心. SPC轉DSS後,小學部成了學生質素的把關者.對學生的成績非常著緊. 小學校長已明言不合格的學生一定不可以升班. 而測驗考試卷的程度都頗深,絕非可以胡混過關的. 能夠經過重重考試關卡升到中學部的學生,相信都有一定的質素.

I will choose Maryknoll Convent as well. The first thing is, I think Maryknoll has the same level as St. Paul's Convent. But we can save money for at least 6 years. Imagine, you can use this lump sum to do other things.

I will choose Maryknoll Convent, not because of the reason "no need to pay school fee", but because of its higher overall standard to St Paul's Convent. Maryknoll is quite all-rounded in academic, sports, music, very active in inter-school activities. I think this is very important as well. I prefer girls to have a broader horizon of community knowledge as well, than just sticking to their own school.
But of course, both schools are excellent.
