會否相似offer的小朋友都是著差不多的性格或特質已至有類似的學校喜歡同類型的作她們的學生呢?

我係CKY家長。剛剛發生一件小事，想分享一下。小女現讀小一，語文尚可，但並不是特別標青。幼時的英語發音實屬一般。係學校過了三個月，每天的功課 ，差不多都會有誦讀。 幾個月過去了， 她的發音、intonation,都有明顯進步。剛才她自己看書，問了一條問題：why it's gobbled it 'down', not gobbled it 'up'.  (其實意思是一樣)。感意外的是她懂得這些詞彙，也懂問問題。學習其實不需死記爛背，但是要浸，要常接觸、常講、常用，常寫，經過一段時間，就會有成效。但過程可能比在傳統學校的耐。


朋友女兒在傳統學校也是小一，每星期默中、英文，亦已考了一次試。成效是明顯的。朋友女兒已學懂了很多中文字，雖然朋友會形容其功課量是惡夢，也是一場競賽，但其回報是即時的。 蔡繼有的初小不需常寫。當小女與朋友女兒在白板上鬥寫中文時，小女輸了幾條街。


唔~~那蔡繼有是好還是不好呢？其實小女有個係蔡繼有讀中學的哥哥，他每天都會看書，但永不是教科書(真惱人)。講真，有時知道課程大概，就忍不住要考考他，因為擔心他乜都唔識，浪費了我們的血汗錢。發覺他對有興趣科目的概念是頗清晰的。我以前讀bio，硬記很多深到暈的生字，但他竟然隨口都講得出。原來已經是變為long term memory。衹要對學習有興趣，讀書其实可以好輕鬆。


總括而言，見成效要看終點線設在哪！

All the three schools are very good schools.  I think It is fine to go to anyone of them.

I like to highlight a point that CKY students can also apply for a place at local universities through non-Jupas using their IB score.  As long as they can get a good score, it should not be a problem studying University in HK.  There are quite a number of discussions about IB by other people here.  Below you can see sharing by ANChan59 whom I appreciate very much.  His sharing is very informative and insightful.

這又反回香港有否足夠不同類型的學校／課程供大家選擇的問題。如果IB是未來主流和大家渴求的，真係要好好跟政府和辦學團體多反映。反回帖子，幾位朋友其實都在想如何決擇： 1. CKY, YW, DBS 2. CKY, DBS, SPCCPS (現在只有這間有結果）所有傳統學校都有那個相對操練的問題。CKY也可能已因應本地家長的訴求，初小的程度跟其他IS已相對高（不過校長冇說過CKY是IS, 是local private school 吧），因為不是IB是自家設計的課程？

係大學負責某科收生的朋友告訴我，大學很樂意收取ib成績好的學生，狀元級更會有很多優惠，學費、獎學金……。但係講緊係40分。非常唔簡單。

HKUST offers scholarships for both local and non-local entrants.

Scholarships for applicants to be admitted in the coming academic year (2013/14 cohorts) are being reviewed. Details will be announced from November 2012. For details of the scholarships offered to our newly admitted students in the current academic year (2012/13 cohorts), please refer to the following:
A)        SCHOLARSHIP FOR ALL ENTRANTS

University Entrance Scholarship for IB Diploma Holders
IB Diploma candidates/holders who have completed the IB Diploma requirements before September 2012 will be considered for the Scholarship. Students with IB Total Points (including Bonus Points) 38 or above will be awarded with the scholarship. Details are as follows:

IB Total Points        Scholarship for students admitted in the 2012/13 academic year
45        Full tuition plus living allowance of HK$40,000, renewable for normal duration of study
42-44        Full tuition, one-off#
40-41        Half tuition, one-off#
38-39        HK$15,000, one-off#

Students do not have to apply for the Scholarship. All IB Diploma candidates/holders are automatically considered for the awards based on their verified IB Total Points. The University will select qualified students and inform the students selected for scholarship awards in due course.
