Let me assure you of the issue about the marks. For Music, you can see from the school report that actually you only have a grade instead of marks given. Yes you can write down your daughter's exposure in Music, such as performance and qualification achieved . But that carry little significance on the grade that the pupil gets. The thing that appears more relevant is the concerts she attends during school term. I have the impression that if the pupil goes for the concerts, she'll get an A and if not she'll get a B.

And after all, the marks you get in Music are not counted when the school calculates the average marks of the pupil. So take it easy.

My daughter was also very lazy in practising piano. Same case as your daughter. But when I asked her to quit then she cried, saying that she wanted to learn playing the piano.  Now she is a bit older and the ability to overcome difficult tunes is gradually improving, she is more willing to practise and finds greater satisfication in it.

I personally take learning music a serious thing, something that requires perseverance and discipline.  And it's a lose-lose situation if the parents force a kid to do something that interests only the parent but not herself.  Do ask your daughter if she really likes playing and find out what's bothering her. It's the only way that she can carry on. If she has interest in piano, help her to overcome her difficulties and if she doesn't, you can always find something else that both interests her and is equally rewarding.

不錯,我是由小學前的預備班讀至中七畢業的.
不用太擔心,小朋友的適應力很強的,想當年我升上中學也是這樣.很快就會習慣.
英文程度方面,我見女兒一年班時英文課都主要用中文授課,輔以英文.那時女兒還說,有時不大明白老師說什麼.但上了二年級,老師已轉用英語,中文只是間中輔助,但小朋友已完全沒有問題.所以我估計到六年級,應該會更好.

HFCS secondary has 200 vacancies in F.1; 85% of which goes to 2 primary schools.  That is, 170. Kln City will have 99 P6 pupils and Kln Tong 132 in a few years' time, totaling 231. 73.6% of the P6 pupils will get a seat om the secondary school.  Not overly competitively in my view.

Thanks again for your opinion.

The case that I heard was from my friend,her daughter is in P6 and her acadamic result is No.44
in the whole P6  but she was not admitted into HF Secondary school in 1st round and she is waiting
for the result of Lucky draw.

Because now both HF primary have 4 classes only but for my daughter it will have total 8 classes,
so that it make me feel a bit of scary.

Anyway, my daughter is very enjoy her school life.

But presently there are only two P.6 classes. I'm not very sure about the number of students for each class,but it should be within the range of 33 to 35. So if the girl ranks 44 , she's below the mean.

I understand that by the time our daughters reach P.6, there will be totally 8 classes (counting as well the school at Junction Road). I happened to talk with a teacher in the secondary school and she said the school had plan for more classes in future. Of course no one can tell for things that had not yet happened and there are so many possible changes. That is, don't over worry for things that one cannot control. To enjoy a happy primary school life is more important. Afterall, even if one is not admitted to the secondary school, that's not the end of the world. There are schools that are equally good that might admit her.

謝謝你的回覆, 其實我對於聖家(九龍塘)及恊恩特別鍾情, 早在舊年年尾已開始每星期打電話去咨詢, 如何申請插班生, 她們每次都回覆叫我今年六月寫信去, 但在上個月22日經另一個家中ロ中得知聖家己通知她的女儿在5月底去筆試, 而她的信是左5月17日寄出的, 隔三天己收到電話約她帶女儿去筆試, 於是我在5月24日早上立刻親自帶信去學校, 由於遲遲沒有回覆, 故我再致電去聖家, 問她們為甚麼聽電話的叫我們六月才寄信, 但確在５月底於通知人去筆試, 得到答案是我只是負責接電話及通知人, 一切都是老師及校長的意思, 我只是打工, 我又問她, 是否再有第ニ批筆試, 她說不知道, 除非今次筆試的小朋友在開學前而不讀才有機會.
而珕恩也一樣, 她們每次都叫我六或七月才寫信去, 但我在5月24日亦日同樣親自寫信去, 結果在昨天致電到學校, 學校竟然告訴我說早在5月中己通知所有校長認為合乎要求的小朋友來筆試, 那我又問她, 為甚麼你們接電話的叫我們6,7月才寫信去, 她立刻改口說, 所有信己收到, 這全是校長的意思.

我覺得非常失望, 由女儿升小一開始, 我覺得香港的教育制度非常腐敗.

我諗校務處既職員的確只可以按以往既經驗話你聽大約幾時收生.實際有冇變動,真係唔一定講得埋.又或者今年既時間可能同以往唔一樣,(好似舊年咁,一個沙士,成個校歷表都要改).佢地亦冇可能逐一通知打過電話來查詢既家長.

我覺得係呢件事上面學校的確透明度唔高,(不過老實講,我估其實唔會有好多學校真係好高透明度).香港教育制度有佢僵化既地方,但腐敗兩個字我有保留.

我都明白你既心情,好似無端端錯失左個機會,不過有時又可以咁睇,塞翁失馬,焉知非福,有緣轉校固然好,留係原校亦唔一定係壞事.起碼小朋友唔駛重新適應,亦唔駛冇左d老友記.平常心吧.

其實我用腐敗兩個字來形容教育制度, 對於一些能够找到心儀學校的家長,可能覺得我語氣太重, 但對於我這類的家長做了很多嘢, 但又無從着手, 真的覺得無可耐何?
