I also do not have many ideas yet.  I used to live in HK side before marriage & I really don't know much about good schools at Kln side besides those famous ones like DBS, La Salle or Wah Yan.  And, I will not send my son to int'l school.

Actually my friend said a few of them use english and mandarin, mostly those new direct-funded schools. I also have no idea on what kid of primary school that' suitable for Preston. But I will not send him to international school too. I want him to learn better chinese. I know the school on Hk side better toop,pp I guess I need to study more before I can make the right decision.
The new teacher is called Miss Jill. Preston said she's nice and he likes her. Hope she is ncie and teach the kids good english.

Davin is now able to tell me a lot more about what happened at school.  When I asked him the name of the new teacher, he could tell immediately.  I trust that the school recruits good teacher & from our experience nearly all teachers are good.

Recently, Davin starts to ask more 'why' questions.  And, he is more stubborn.  How about changes of your kid ?

About asking 'why' questions, Preston started a few months ago and continuous to ask a lot of questions now.
You know what he did last night. He told daddy he want he wants a new car, daddy said yes only if you behave well and mommy agreed. then he came and asked me if I allow him to have a new car. I said 'no' coz you have too many already (at least 60 cars). Then he went to daddy and said mommy said 'OK' and he could get a new car. Recently, he started to tell lies and make something up himself.

Brian still hasn't started to ask 'why' questions.  Recently, he is in the stage of asking 'What will happen if.....?' questions.

I learnt from books that kids' behaviour changes in half year cycles, half year good, helf year bad, and so on.  I guess Brian has just passed the 'good' cycle.  He is stubborn recently.  Whenever he wanted something but we refused, he will show his temper.  He also cried more frequently.  I am waiting for the next 'good' cycle to come.

Talking about the choice of primary school.  Do you think a co-ed school is a better choice than a boys' school?

Davin also likes car a lot.  I also think he's got more than 60 cars.  Making a story of his own ?  Telling lies ?  I guess every kid will go through this stage.  That's why proper values should be taught.

Like Brian, Davin is more stubborn now.  He also loses his temper more easily when he cannot get what he wants.  Every time we have to tell him what he should do.  He understands but still repeats to shout or cry next time.  Hope that things would get better soon.

I guess Preston is older than Brian and Davin, he's in the 'good' cycle now. He can control his temper much better, of course, occ. will throw toys if he got really upset. He's the type of person need to know everything in advance, if there is sudden change that's not what he thinks or wants, he'll get upset. Miss Cheng recognised his character very soon and knows how to deal with him and told him she's training his EQ.

You're right.  Kids go through different stages from time to time.  Did you attend the parents' day this morning ?  My timing was good (9am).

I write a lot every week to Miss Cheng & still they've got quite some feedback this morning.  I was grateful for their observation & care so that we as parents know more about how our kids perform at school & we can help to develop their potentials & correct their weaknesses.

Met the principal after the interview & gave compliment about Miss Cheng.

I've changed the meeting with the teachers much later, 20th this month coz I have no time. Maybe more time for the new teacher to observe. How's the new teacher ,Miss Jill, what's your impression?
You do pay a lot of effort on Davin. I rarely write to the teacher and mainly Miss Cheng called me from time to time about Preston's situation. I guess he's doing fine at school so I don't pay much attention. Maybe I should spend more effort in the communication with the teachers.

I have to attend a five-day intensive course (whole day) this week so my husband attended the parents' day this time.  It's good that Ms. Cheng could make an arrangement so my husband could go back to work on time.

What did you write to Ms. Cheng?  Asking questions about Davin's behaviour in school or telling Ms. Cheng what you observed at home?  It's good that you can spend some time in the writing.

I guess kids like Miss Jill.  Miss Cheng said Miss Jill played a lot with the kids.  I did not see Miss Bai this morning 'la'.

What does I write to the teachers ?  Anything that I can think of that may need advice from the teacher.  Maybe behaviour at home.  Maybe something about learning progress...

How long was the interview on parent's day? Did you wait for long time? Last year I waited for more than half an hour. Did they discuss about the report or more on the behaviour of the kid?
How's Brian and Davin doing? I bet they must have improved a lot.

I was lucky.  I had interview at 9am.  We talked for about 15 minutes.  No one was waiting after me.  Actually, they talked more about the behaviour of the kid.

And, you're right.  Big improvement compared to August.  Both Miss Bai & Miss Cheng were good at observation & told me a lot about Davin's behaviour at school.  We should be thankful for having them as teacher of our kids.

The interview lasted about 10 minutes.  Ms. Cheng and Ms. Bai focused mainly on Brian's performance, strength and weaknesses in school.

Brian improved a lot but there are still ways of improvement.  I am satisfied with his progress in the recent months.

Thanks.  I saw Preston & Davin talked to each other again this morning during morning exercise time.  After long obervation, I noticed that Preston takes the initiative to interact with Davin for most of the time.  Good to know that they enjoy being friends.

Btw, Davin got no afternoon nap for 2 consecutive days & he only slept for 8 - 9 hours at night.  Guess how long he slept these 2 days in the afternoon ?  4 hours !

Is Preston still joining Kumon Maths?  Does he show great progress?

Yes, Preston is still attending Kumon (math) since Aug. So far so good and he really enjoys it (more than other courses)   Now he can count from 0-220 verbally and count dots up to 25 dots (in a fast way, 5 in a row). He needs to finish 10 pages of homework everyday but he always asks to do more. I'm satisfied with his progress.

Preston's progress is great!  Well done!

It's good to find that kids in K1B will learn 3 to 4 Chinese characters every week.  I think Brian paid more concentration in class recently, as he could recognize all those words.

Brian had an assessment on his ability to speak in Yaumatei Clinic last Saturday.  It was found that he has great improvement compared with his performance last year.  However, he still couldn't pronounce some words assessed well.  It's good to see his improvement.
