And, you can bring your kid to school.  Teacher will be looking after him.

Dear All

I've talked to moms of music lesson last week.  Their kids used to go to LH (Hampton Loft) for PN & are going to SC for kinder now.

Their kids seem not that happy.  One cried all the time.  Another one have not get used to PM school & is quite dull at night.  They even refuse to go to school some time.

We should be grateful that we choose this school.  In terms of reputation, this school may be too new.  Yet, in terms of the caring attitude of the teachers & the transparency, LH for sure is much better.

Liam likes to watch one cartoon called Dora, so we subscribed it for him.

I subscribed Disney Channel for my boys. My younger one loves to watch the Playhouse Disney Channel, and the older one loves the Disney channel. I found the Playhouse Disney very educational, and all of its programs teach the young ones of something, e.g. English, Music, how to handle emotion, creativity, art and crafts, etc.

But since my elder son stepped into P.1, I cut down their TV time. Cos he needs more time to do hw and study. My younger boy alwasys ask if he can have some hw to do too when he sees his brother doing hw.

Brian loves Elmo's World so much.  I have also bought two Elmo's World VCD, together with some others of Sesame Street.  Will check the titles tonight.  Maybe I can also duplicate some others for you.

LH starts to teach phonics at PN.  They are using Letterland.  Kids will learn the alphabets and a related song in PN.  In K1, they start to learn the sounds, one letter at a week.
Kids don't need to do written homework until late K2.
The charges are acceptable.  Besides school fee and buying uniforms, the school charges about $1000 for the miscellaneous items like books and drawing tools.
Birthday parties will be held once a month.  The parties are for the kids only and no extra charge needed.
Hope you find the info useful.  I know that the Open Day for LH will be held soon.  Do come and take a look.

The school fee is reasonable, no extra charge for snacks or birthday parties(where did you get that info.?). For PN class, no charge for books as well. Only need to buy uniform, school bag included.
For K1, need to buy books, not expensive, the same price if you buy outside.
They start to learn Letterland since PN class. They learn the characters and formally learn Letterland phonics in K1. My son is in K1, so far no homework yet. I would recommend this school to anyone, coz it's a really good school and the kids are very happy going to school.

I really like Miss Cheng.  My son got a bit of running nose & did not behave so well.  She did take the effort to give me phone call.

Fortunately, my son gets better today.  No more running nose.

Have you handed the lanterns yet ?  I just finished it last night.  Want to let Davin play for 1 day & then submit to school tmr.

Last night, I tried watching for a program.  I also think that Disney Playhouse is more suitable for my kid.  Yet, it's not included in my package & I have to pay extra for this.

My Mom told me that Ms. Cheng used to bring the kids one by one to the parents every day and comment on the behaviour of the kids.  That's very good.  Brian likes Ms. Cheng so much, and so do I.

I made the lantern with Brian last Sunday.  I just bought some coloured wooden splints and some transparent coloured papers.  I tried to let Brian participate more.  I let him apply glue on the splints, stick the splints together and stick some star labels on it.  At the end, it looks like a box.   

Brian got running nose last night.  This morning, he's got high fever and couldn't go to school.  Hope he will be fine by tomorrow.

Hope little Brian gets well soon. I am sure he wants to go to school badly.

I made the lantern with my boy last night too. He helps to do some drawing and sticking colour paper pieces onto the lantern.

I am now looking forward to the parent meeting on Friday night.

I saw quite some lanterns displayed along the corridors & many of them are quite beautiful.

My Mom took Brian to see a doctor this morning.  The doctor sad he's got a severe sore throat, which led to fever.

Brian's temperature kept high in the afternoon.  Luckily, it went below 38 in the evening.  I understand that his temperature will rise anytime.  Will keep check frequently tonight.

Preston also got cough and running nose yesterday (actually he did not go to school yesterday). I guess a lot of kids got sick recently due to the change of weather.
Hope Brian get well soon.

Preston brought the latern today. Actually I did not make it for him. I have no talent in doing artwork. Same as last year, I ask my friend to make it for him.(Don't tell the Miss Cheng that we '請昌",shhh! Anyway, I'll let Preston to try next year after he attends some art classes.

You're welcome. I'm not sure about the english standard about Debroah and LH, coz I don't know anyone who studies in Debroah. If I were you, I'd rather wait for the next term rather than changing school. Once your kid starts to adapt one school, she needs to adapt a new enviornment again. For my son, he started school in Feb which was a benefit, coz he's the only new student in class and the teachers paid all the attention to him. Starting school at age 2 (which is same as my son) is not good in a way that they get sick easily. My son got sick after 4 days of school and the whole Feb just went to school ~8 days only.

I notice that your son is wearing spectacles now (I did not see him with glasses last Friday during art lesson).  He still looks cute.  I also noticed that he coughed a little bit.  Same case as my son last Friday.  He's getting better today.  Davin & Preston played happily after art lesson.  Glad to see this.

Making lantern is really not a simple job.  It did spend you quite some time.

I saw the parents of PNA yesterday & talked to parents whose kids are going to SC now.  One thing for sure, the environment in LH is much better.  Teachers are also more average in quality.  One campus of SC is too old.  They even have classroom in LG floor with no window.

After attending the LH parent's night last Friday, it impressed me most with using the Letterland series as the English curriculum. One of its characteristics is that when kids learn to write letters in K2, they will not following the normal sequence of A, B, C, D....to practice writing, but instead with C, A, T, ....(I don't remember the exact sequence). The good thing is to let the kids to handle those phonics letter so that they can spell and write in a faster pace. Also, when they learn it this way, they can really remember the letter by the letter itself, but not their sequence in the normal A, B, C sequence.

Also, they have introduce a new Pre-primary 1 interview class. I guess its for k3 students. It saves the parents from searching for outside expensive interview courses for their kids.

BTW, the curriculums for Chinese, Maths, Cognitive, Physical activities...are all well-prepared and satisfy my expectation of sending my kid to LH. In the mean time, I also find my boy enjoys the school life very much, and he always told me that his teachers loves him very much.

I think it is a correct move for me to put my son to this school.

Great to meet you last Friday with Liam and your husband. I can regconise Liam once I saw him. May be you can share how your son's learning in the E/M class. Cos I am also thinking of letting my boy to join the E/M class next year.
