CDNIS vs AISHK

My feeling is the discipline of the students of these two schools are generally ok but CDNIS is academically stronger than AISHK, can any parents (especially parents who have children studying at these schools) share their comments on these two international schools?

Are you Australian/New Zealand passport holder? If not you can almost forget about AISHK now. They can't even offer enough seats for their priority groups...

Admissions to both school are highly competitive as both have long waiting lists.  Putting this aside, just want to know how do these two schools compare academically?

I know little about CDNIS, and academic achievement has never been a factor in our selection of schools so I never really paid any attention to that. Sorry, can't help you here.

I applied the CDNIS when my son is 8 months, I recieved a mail for assessment test , current my son is nearly 1 year old.

What? As young as one year old, how to assess? I didn't hear that before. It states the interview will take place in jan for the aug intake.

Are you Canadian? How did the assessment go?

yes, we are Canadian, I think CDIS mixed up the application, we are applying for 2014-2015

I called AISHK and the staff said that if you are Aus/NZ passport holder and apply early (two years ahead) the chance of getting in is high. I haven't heard any positive feedback on admission from any schools except this one so i do hope it's true. Of course, never put all the eggs in the same basket.
I'm apply to both IS (and some others), and is also interested to know any comparison between the two schools as well.

Their standard answer is to check the child's ability to follow instructions in English and social interaction. The details are a mystery to us all since parents are not allowed inside, while they have a small group of children doing assessment together.

Are you applying for reception class? If I want to apply primary section how early should I apply? My baby is 8 months now

I applied 1 year early, just be safe

I think the standard is 2 years ahead, so apply for primary when your child is in k2, but it's be best to call them to find out.

I will be. My son is born Nov 2010 so according to the Auzzie calendar he can apply in 2013 for admission for 2015. Since the school year starts differently down under from all other schools on this side of the hemisphere, expect all the kid's holidays being a bit different from other students in HK, which could be a blessing & a curse when you try to plan school break activities and family getaways :)

Oh I see but actually I am interested in CDNIS not AIS. But you are talking about AIS right ?
