I tried to learn what the kids are learning at school from my girl. Of course, they are very happy. To our delight, they're not just playing and playing. They do learn something in the games and activities every day. For example, my girl is intested in the science of "object movement" and "balancing" after the fasinating experiments. She learns that there are three important colors in this world after her favourite arts sessions. She also expressed interest in writing story after seeing others. The more she told me, the more I like this school which is really student oriented. Every lesson is carefully structured and planned to arose students' passion (not only interest) in learning. I believe, and hope, I have chosen the right learning approach to her. And to remind myself and other parents, we have chosen to cultivate "a passion for learning" in the first two years instead of feeding the kids with tons of words and facts. If we choose the former but also strive for the later, it's no good for both the school and our kids. Though the first few years our kids may learn less words and facts, we should believe that those foundation (passion, mindset, thinking, etc.) they built in should help them learn faster and more efficient in the later stage. In a marathon, those running ahead at the beginning are always not the winners :)
