Re: 聖保祿幼兒園St. Paul's Day Nursery

I will apply SPN for my daughter in March 2007... i like this school a lot, heard lots of positive comments about SPN as it is a full-day school, your kid will learn self-discipline and independence in school... most of all, i like the catholic background with high moral value... also, it is a one-dragon school to SPCS Primary...
My positive comments are:
1. Most girls go to SPCS (but no guarantee, heard of very rare fail cases)
2. Catholic background which emphasis positive moral standard
3. Teach girls to be independent, presentable, disciplined and rather 'lady'
My negative comments are:
1. As compared with the popular kindergarten trend, SPN seems more emphasis on discipline and less emphasis on creativity
2. The communication with parents may not be that sufficient. In my feeling, they are quite relunctant to let parents interfere their 'business' (e.g. no PTA)
3. The boy:girl ratio is too low. Only 2 to 3 boys in a class of 30.
Neutral comment:
Regarding school fee, the first impression to many parents is "too expensive". Yes, talking about $5,300 x 12 (i.e. 60,000+ /p.a.) it seems really high. However, the fee includes the breakfast, lunch, tea, birthday party gifts and teaching materials. The parents just need to pay the stationery fee.
Moreover, the school is of 5.5-day week and it only has very short summer vacation of about 2 weeks. The school opens at 8:00 and closes at 18:00. For the working dads and moms, they can send their kids to school before going to work and take them back after work. They don't even need to employ a maid. It is the Principal who always emphasis that they provide service to those who are in need. If the parents prefers a half day school and pay lesser, they should choose SPK. |
