We just got an offer from HKIS (G5). During the assessment, when we went to campus, it seems there aren't many residence places nearby. Can anyone attending HKIS recommend some nearby apartments for rental? Thanks!
The school offers many bus routes for middle and high school students. Private car pick-up and drop-off can be challenging due to parking and traffic jams. I'm not sure if I can provide the answers you need. Answering your questions about extracurricular activities, schedules, and home location is difficult since they are very personal in nature. :)
Thank you! Attaching importance to SEL and diversity is great! This is reassuring to know.
Do you know if middle school & high school students mostly still take the school bus, or through private drop-off/pickup? Is there a lot of traffic jam in the middle school area? I know school bus is mandatory for primary students.
Children often form close relationships based on shared interests and personalities rather than family ties. HKIS is highly diverse and provides a great learning environment for students' SEL development. I can share that the school's annual report includes detailed information on students' citizenship, such as the fact that mainland China passport holders made up 4% of the student body last year.
Do you know roughly what percentage of kids are from mainland China? I know l ...
From my experience, the kids did not gather by backgrounds. It’s hard to say by % coz some might have both parents from mainland or one of the parents from mainland.
Do you know roughly what percentage of kids are from mainland China? I know language is not a barrier (since all speak English), but I think students still tend to gather with people from similar backgrounds. Thanks!
Thank you! Do you know if the students tend to speak Cantonese or English in their free time at school? We are a mainland China family, and don't know Cantonese.
Thank you! Yes, I considered that. I just checked the places near the school campus, they are all so expensive. A parent suggested living in Taikooshing, which is quite convenient, and relatively not so far away. (students living there board the bus at around 7 am)
Many families live in Repulse Bay, Tai Tam and Stanley, even further to Central or other southern areas. They offer school bus so it’s not necessary live very close to school unless you want to walk there.
