Capital Notes, Certificates and Levies (+2016)
Unless exempted due to financial hardship, upon commencement of
student registration for the new school in Lai Chi Kok scheduled for 2016,
all parents will be required to have their children covered by capital notes
(corporate or individual), individual capital certificates, or annual levies.
However, no purchase is required prior to registration commencement. A
brief description of each capital instrument follows.
Corporate Capital Note (CCN)
A CCN may be purchased by a company incorporated in Hong Kong
entitling its holder to nominate and reserve a place for one child of its
director or employee for enrolment at the School. A CCN will have an initial
subscription price and face value of HK$1 million. The first issue of CCN will
consist of five (5) only. A CNN is transferable but is non-interest bearing,
non-refundable and unsecured.
Individual Capital Note (ICN)
An ICN shall be issued and held by an individual who is resident in Hong
Kong. Its holder is entitled to nominate one child for enrolment at the
School. An ICN is transferable but is non-interest bearing, non-refundable
and unsecured. The initial face value of ICN’s, guaranteed only for parents
who currently have children enrolled at CAIS, will be HK$250,000.
Except as indicated below, initial subscription prices of ICN’s applicable to
registration of children in the new school will be HK$250,000.
Discounted ICN: A limited number of ICN’s may be offered, prior to new
school opening in successive batches with decreasing discounts.
Individual Capital Certificate (ICC)
An ICC is supplementary to a CCN or ICN to cover sibling(s) of a child
registered by a CCN or ICN holder. Face value of ICC’s will be discounted to
lessen burdens of Note holders with prices as follows:
First ICC: 90% of face value
Additional ICC: 85% of face value
Subsequent ICC’s: Further 5% discount of face value of most recent tranche
of ICN for each additional ICC.
ICC’s are non-transferable but redeemable at face value upon request of
the holder subject to conditions specified by the School. ICC’s will only be
available upon commencement of student registration for the new school.
Annual Capital Levy (ACL)
Upon commencement of student registration for the new school, a nonrefundable
capital levy will be assessed annually for each student in grades
seven (7) through twelve (12) not covered by a CCN, ICN or ICC. The levy
for the first year of operation will be HK$25,000 but is subject to annual
review. The ACL is payable each year upon registration. No discount will be
offered on an ACL.
