Tutor time is too commercial

My experience, I registered for my son next Nov and Dec playgroup( ask me to pay the tuition in 3 days, I feel like they want my money right away), but due to some reasons my son is not able to attand the full Nov classes ( not in HK), I told my situation to Tutor time early Oct ( one day after I paied the tution), they refuse to withdraw the tuition that I understand, but they also refuse to postpone the tuition to next month, or even transfer to other kids. Now Im just thinking if the baby is sick, Tutor Time is not provide makeup class as well, parents just lose money, BTW the tuition is really expensive. The baby is not like adult, we never know what will happen, if  parents are not 100% sure their babies can attand the full classes, donot go for Tutor time, they are too commercial, and love money. Before you go to Tutor time, please think about.

My son has been joining the Tutor Time Playgroup since 8-month old (he is now 15-month old).  Despite the tuition fee is expensive, i.e, $1,980 per month, the environment is very spacious and clean.  Most of the teachers are good.  As I observed, many of the toddlers quite enjoy going to the playgroup as there are serveral activities for them to participate for each session, e.g., art work, sensory activities, story time, singing songs, baby gym and the toddlers can expose to English and Putonghua by native speakers.  I think it worths given the school setting for babies and toddlers before going to PN and kindergarten.  My son is also attending a plagroup organized by ESF at the same time, but it seems that he does not enjoy it very much.  So I think Tutor Time is good to my son and me.

I personally think TT is very good!  My daugther has been with TT since playground and is now K2.  We speak Cantonese and she speaks good English and is getting used to Putongua now.  Most importantly, she is very happy and excited to go to school everyday.   

We might unfortunately come across some teachers who are not up to the standard.  But it happens in every school.  In fact, most of the teachers are more than OK and some of them are really good.

To comment on the few comments above....

1. I am sure they get commission taking photos, ordering books, buying things for the students!!!  In some schools that I know of, they get the same photographers to take student pics, but the school doesn't charge a penny (probably included in the school fees), anyways, they give you the class photo and individual portraits for free... unless you want to order extras!

If you order Scholastics books from TT, the 'exchange rate/processing rate' to US dollars is much more expensive then other schools like Kingston, St. Catherine!!!!

2.  Again... I personally think it's ok to be commercial, they are a 'private-institution' and this is a 願買願賣社會。。。but their problem is.... they don't offer the 'appropriate service'!!!!  And they don't have the heart for kids... esp. the owner of the institution, as well as the management... a lot of things they do is just to give a show to the parents, but not for the real sake of the kids...   which is the biggest problem for an education institution!!!

Oh I still thinking whether enrol toddlers class in Caine Road, sounds the comment is not so good.  Do you know how much is the toddlers class if just go for one day per week?

I would understand many schools are profit seeking, but really couldn't afford for such a low standard curriculum. My friends and I joined another playgroup since bb was  six mos old. That is as much as expensive than TT but the quality  is a lot lot better. So we are able to make comparison.

They also invited photographers to take bb portriat and costs few hundred for a shoot.. no gd I think they get commission on that !!

I think tt is really bad. Two of my friends go to their playgroup for 10-11 mos old baby. The teacher has no smile on his face. Zero interaction with babies, more worse, show u some toys or games of the day, then he walked away. My friend said she only want to have tt nursery as back up so she stick to it! What ?? I dare not to waste that money

Kowloon... I heard Tai Tam is somehow pretty lucky with their teachers... anyways... good luck with this school if your kids are still there.

Caine road TT experience is bad too. Native English teachers sit at the corner and sang to herself.. None of the babies are attentive .. Seems like she played whole night in LKF...  we quited and switched to woodland , teachers are much better quality .. N caring!!!

private institution----預左啦, no make up class is normal wor. tt is a school, not 一般坊間私人playgroup麻

tutortime is very gd, i put my kids there for more than 1 year (pre-nursery), she speaks fluent in english. Teacher are good and caring (taitam).

I have no regret to pick tt.

One more thing to show how commercial they are ...

their 'maximum capacity' for a classroom could be floated / adjusted (un-noticeably)... without expanding the size of the classroom, nor removing any of the furniture etc...  they just want to get as many  students as they can to make more $$.

In my opinion... it's ok to be commercial... afterall, TT is a private institution ,  they set the price... , you choose them, you pay for it, and they (are supposed to) give you the service... it's a free trade world.

BUT... though TT is a private institution, they still need to be a responsible service provider and give the appropriate education service (and according their terms and conditions)... which they don't!!!

In terms of teachers, it depends on your luck, every school has good teachers and bad ones... and TT has high turnover rate on teachers... so good luck... (and think... if the school is good to the teachers,  do you think they would have such a high turnover rate??)

The big problems are, the owner of the school, who is the VERY commercial one (or you may call a money-lover), and the unqualified management ,... they charge you big money, but they don't really give back to your kids (... many of their newly hired teachers are  teachers with no or very little experience, management are unqualified (check on the background of the center directors), and teaching materials/resources sucks), what they show you are only very 表面 just to impress the parents... and most importantly, the school/owner/management don't have the kids as their NO. 1 priority... but unfortunately... the money... which is wrong wrong wrong for an education service provider... despite it's a commercial / private one, or a non-profit one.

Fortunately, ... not all private institutions are like that... I see that there are still schools out there whom have the hearts for kids (instead of money comes first) ... so there are still hope...

I am confused of what you want now, if you don't like TT (but you just said teachers at TT are ok), just cancel your application and leave, go and find other playgroup you like

I dont want to hold the position, I just want to withdraw the all fee or transfer as Credit( Im Ok on the waiting list), I just donot understand why they are refuse all the options except keep the money There are so many other playgroups in the market, TT they donot  respect their customers. BTW, many playgroups or schools say the space are very limited, they asked us to pay all the fee in front ASAP, just read all the policy very be careful. On the othe hand,  I think it is also a kind of advertisement make parents to pay all the fee
