I don't think they use up all 70%, I agreed with steve819. The school only want bright kids, don't matter if you're related or not. This year my son is in P1 and in his class most of the kids is not related. We have no relationship with the school either.
This is just like all examinations. It is not difficult to get pass but easy to fail. If you really work your kids well, you certainly will have more confident. I think there are more kids deserved to be selected but somehow they failed because they performed poorly merely in the interview. However, it is unlikely that the kid is not good and performed brilliantly suddenly and get selected. Don't be disappointed so early and be confident with your kid. This is far more important.
They said that they usually not use the whole 70%. Actually they don't have to please those belonged to the related groups. They just want more smart, talented well behaved kids whether you are related to the school or not.
I think another difference between the 2 schools is that Co-ed openly tells you that they will reserve up to 70% of the P.1 seats for kids with relationship with the school.
That's another rumour just like the FTM. There are a lot of 細仔 in the school. However, since the kids is only five years old during the interview, a few months older do really have some advantage.. I think the principal has already answered this question in the 簡介會 every year.
Definitely there are lots of factors a school will consider. Personally, I don't think full time mom has high weight as I know quite a lot of working moms in these schools.
I agreed with interview, I myself working mom and my son also accepted by co ed. Also lucky only but I think all depending on how you spend the time with your kid. And how much you want to be involved with the school.

ha ha ha very true. If parents don't care about their kids they won't send them to DG and once they're in, you are bound to put in your full effort.

SPCCPS is also very famous for preferring full time mum though there are a lot of working mum with kids accepted. I think all these school prefers full time mum. They usually come from a better off family as only one father can support the family. Full time mum are suppose to have more time taking care of their kids. Also there is a high chance for full time mum to participate as voluntary work in school. However at the end of the day, I think the performance of the child is the single most important factor.
