仔仔終於學完IPA啦~真係好有用

不得不同大家分享下~不是賣廣告,只係我身為家長覺得,與其大家比錢去學拼音,不如學D專業D既"國際音標"

仔仔由細到大英文的發音都好唔正確~名符其實港式英文,無尾音無捲"利",更加唔知點解老師又話a e i o u 開頭既名詞先要用an, 但點解"hour"又要用an ......

P4果年好好彩其他家長介紹去學IPA,(因為老師係唔公開收生的,只係朋友介紹留位) 雖然係好貴一個鐘,但呢兩年幾三年眼見佢發音好大進步,涼dictation更加唔洗死溫死背,真係覺得好值得! 而家終於學晒所有課程~希望到佢中學,甚至有機會讀大學都可以有幫助啦~

Agreed, that's why phonics can's really help in such instances (as English has many "borrowed" words predominantly from the French).

Someone says phonics can help one to guess the spelling of a word (or vice versa its pronunciation by looking at how it spells) for some 60-70% or 70-80% of English words.  This is irrespective of the means through which one learns phonics (i.e. RWI, Letterland, Jolly, KWIK phonics, Hooked on phonics, etc).
For example, phonics can't help for words like encore, debut, lieutenant, colonel, debris, etc.

有Ｄ　ＩＰＡ課程是教埋ＯＲＡＬ　ＥＮＧＬＩＳＨ的ＬＩＮＫＩＮＧ＆ＯＭＩＳＳＩＯＮ等等、在ＳＰＥＡＫＩＮＧ＆ＬＩＳＴＥＮＩＮＧ方面的確有用。

我覺得IPA有用之處係查字典就可以知道個字要點樣讀。但要明白和記得那些符號，其實本身要識一定數量的字才學得較輕鬆。
我爸爸在我小三時開始教我查字典， 順便教我字典裏那些讀音符號，記得當時是查一些已很熟悉的字，去明白和記。
小朋友太細去學，可能會事倍功半。其實家長若能自己去了解一下，回家再慢慢教子女，可以慳很多＄＄＄。

IPA好有用, 不過,係真係學完之後會努力自修先有用,不過,對默書應該無咩關係,我學果個IPA都係千幾蛟,十堂,之後自己自修就OK 架喇喎!

Thanks a lot hkmom.  But I am a little slow in learning and understanding...Yes, it's not benefit for dictation, but we could speak fluently after learning it.  This is my experience working at my company.  If you don't pronouce the word correctly, the westerner will really laugh at you (look like you are monster and they act like they really not understanding what you are taling about)

Glad that you like the course.  Yes, for adults like us who pick up something new (esp when we are talking about language and linguistic things), it's really difficult.  However, if you are determined and have the passion, just go for it and your example will mean a lot to your young one(s) at home (if any) and people around you.

Knowing how to say the individual words correctly is one thing.  Reading or speaking them in a sentence fluently is another.  Hope you'll become a fluent and confident speaker of English in the near future.  Ganbade!

Looking at the symbols, I believe phonetic = IPA...It's not easy.  I am also learning it (at my age, it's definitely difficult).  But I think it's very useful.  At least, I could pronous the word correctly.  I have been wrongly pronouce the words together, guitar, etc for ages, even the word "phonetic", I just pronouce it correctly recently.  My tutor says, even the uneducated westerners do not really say the words correctly.
