I would like to teach phonics to my child directly (so as to save more $$ to join playgroup)!
Any parent had tried that? Could you pls share with your experiences?

Besides, I've called the Letterland Showroom(taikooshing) yesterday, the sales there just recommend to buy ABC book only? Those CD & DVD are just for fun...is that true? Do I need to buy them as well?

How about the Early Years Handbook? I've looked through some other BK mother, they highly recommended this. But the sales said it is a bit difficult for a parent to read through? So I don't know if it is really that useful!??

are must.

Handbook... 我覺得, 如果你本身有一定底子, 其實不妨睇睇, 如果冇, 可能睇左都唔知其實實際即係點, 因為有好多野要"聽到"先明白架. 咁會浪費左錢呀....

我本身係讀語言出身, 又去左上太古個parents course, 所以冇買到本handbook, 只用 ABC book 同埋 ABC songs CD, 都教到. 不過我女比較細開始學, 又唔太醒, 我又冇好systematic咁教, 都係聽下歌, 睇下ABC book 講故仔, 佢大約用左一年時間去熟悉. (熟悉=你求其抽個問佢:what's her (the letter) name? how does she (the letter) speak? 佢都答到你, + 識唱晒啲歌 +聽你發個音, 會搵返個啱嘅英文字俾你.

我諗住等佢夠3歲先上堂學進一步嘅blends and digraphs.

不過哩啲都係個人經驗, 你地啲小朋友醒啲, 應該學得快啲. 你當參考參考啦~
