如不滿當地家庭,可否更換?因當地家庭對小朋友既態度唔係幾好....... 唔係一個小朋友有這樣說,而係有3個小朋友都這樣講。

沖涼只得4分鐘;

對方叫了鄰居來食晚飯,這不是一個問題,問題係個主人叫D小朋友: "don't distrube her";

掠衫冇衣夾又唔借俾佢地;

I have checked with the agent that the air ticket for London round trip + tax is over HKD10000 including the fee for summer school is more than HKD40000 for 3 weeks (insurance n pocket money not included yet).
Compare with EF, it's much more expensive.  From here, there were some bad comments about EF's Australia tour with the host families.
How about any experience or comment for joining boarding school in U.K. with EF?
Thank you.

I know that one of the popular UK study agent has offered such arrangement.  As it has been mentioned by others before, the agent will help out in the enrollment with the school and you have to handle the air tickets yourself.

I read from previous post there were lots of issues re. EF programs mainly to do with nationality mix. I understand there are lots of schools can take students as individuals on their summer programs and agents can help with this and I believe they do not charge for these services. You can choose to go in groups where a chaperon (a Leader) will accompany students so you have lots of choices. UK schools offers lots of themed programs so if you child enjoys music then you can choose music themed summer courses or if your child likes debating then there are debating courses to choose from. I hope you all find the right summer courses for your children.

Dear Monita,

Sorry for not getting back but until now.

My daughter joined Concord College summer class during the summer holiday in P.5.  It was already 4 years ago when she was just 10/11.  We enrolled them (my daugther together with 2 girl classmates) to the school directly ourselves.  We talked to the school for enrollment, payment, arrangement of having their representatives to meet the kids at Heaththrow Airport etc. The 3 girls traveled themselves from HK to London but we have subscribed the accompany service (UM?) by the airline.  That means the airhostress take care of them after we hand out them in HK airport and pass them to the school representatives.  Of course, we give them the mobile phone so that they can confirm where they are.  It is OK.

For the activities in the school camp, they are very similar as mentioned.  The food, classes and accomondations were good as told by the girls.  Of course, remember that they are just primary students at that time, they wouldn't be that demanding.

But one thing it is true, there were not too many HK students.  My daugther told me that they met students really from around the world.

I remember the cost of the camp is OK but turn out the total is higher than EF.  I suspect that we book the airticket quite late or at least not as early as EF.  It was a 3-week camp and the total spending (school fee + ticket) is arund $33,000.

By the way, after they were enrolled, we found that local agents can also handle.

Hope it help.

Dear bp123,

Thank you so much, I think I'll take your advice to contact the agent first if price is no different.

My daughter won't be flying alone, we will fly with her and take a chance to have a long holidays in UK & come back together.

Thank you for your helpful advice.  Hope your daughter enjoy & have a successful study in UK.

Mind you, starting from Year 10 for IGCSE is load of work which I learn from my friends' children.  All the best.

Dear YauMum,

Yes, Heathfield Summer School for Girls, I think her website introduce the Summer School very clear.

I have seem the school website in detail as before, the price are exactly the same compare with the agent.  So I decide to enrol throught the agent, the agent can give me some advice & answer my inquires due to my daught's first trip.

After the trip my daught decided study abroad in UK.  She is now study Yr 9 almost 1 year.  It really a good experience to taste the boarding life.

My daught told me she knew some girls are 10 or 11 years old when she joine the summer shcool. I think the school divide the girls into two groups (8-13 & 14-17) they should have the ability to take care of them, you don't worry.  But another thing you should consider was yr daught could accept flight alone for 13 hrs? If she can't join the local girls with the same flight.

I hope my experience can help you.

Do you mean Heathfield Summer School (Girls only).  I've checked on the website & sound good.

Have you compared the price from the school website directly with your agent? any different?  Did the agent do anything for you?

Thank you for your help?

P.S. I wonder if any girls around 10 when your daughter joined the course last time? As my daughter will just turn 10 in this summer. My purpose to let her to have a taste of boarding life.

Dear Monita,

My daughter was 13 1/2 years old when she join the summer school in 2009.

As remember about GPB700/week (included tranport cost from/to airport but airtickets excluded), the course is flexible as you can choose 2, 3 or 4 weeks but as least 2 weeks.  The cost will be slightly difference depend on which school you are selected.

When you arrival, the school will distribute classes to the students according to their English level, as they will have the English lessons in a.m. everyday.
After lunch, there are some hobby classes you can join or half day outdoor activities just like go to Oxford University, mesume, shopping at London town, bowling ........ will be arranged.  Once a week it will have a full day outdoors activities just like Chessintong World etc.......

I have joined the 2 weeks course, in my memory not much complain for the school from my daugher, she just complain me why booking the return airticket too late, leave her alone in school as other students were left in the morning. But anyway I feel she was happy about her first time London trip.  For the further information you can contact the below local agent.

Hello, fmei011 & bp123,

Thanks for all your reply.  It seems like both of U are satisfied with the arrangement.  I'm really interested in what you've mentioned.  May I know some more details like what's the age of your kids?  What is the charge and the duration of the whole studying tour?  Any outdoor activities or sightseeing besides studying (English or other subjects?) How do I contact the local agent?
Excuse me for so many queries as this is my 1st time to plan for sending my kid to studying tour.  You may pm me if you think something which is not allowed to talk here.  Thank you.

I have the same experience about the summer school.  I enroll the school in UK (Heathfield School) through local agent, the school was very closed to London.  My daughter's  food,  accommondations and activies are arranged by school.  But even I enroll throught the agent, I need to book the airtickets by myself, and the school respesentive will meet my daugher in UK airport, no local guide or other HK students accompany with her.  I think this will be better than the EF tour as many students in the school were came from difference countries, HK stendents just a little, so she can talk more English.

I have enrolled into a UK boarding school summer program myself.  It is OK.   No need to worry about the food and the accommondations as they stayed in the school boarding house.  The total cost is a bit more expensive than EF's, probably because we are quite late in booking air tickets.  But you have to note the troublesome in the arrangement because we had to talk to the school directly.  Later, we found out that we can enroll through local agents.

You may consider it.
